Our third visit to the Iris and it will not be the last. The hotel has been modernised and refurbished and we had the same room on the second floor as we had last time. ( We were in the main building and not in the annexe) .With a glorious sea view, and two very comfortable single beds pushed together to make a super kingsize we were very happy. It was very clean, quiet very warm and the staff were delightful.. At night in the winter I can sit for hours with a glass of wine looking out to sea to the illuminated pier and cliff faces and many other lights.

The food is very good and not just the breakfasts. The dinners are worth staying in for and you do not have to have three courses, - we always only ever have two at a cost of £15.

The location is brilliant on the sea front and close to both the old and new shopping centres. Park your car and forget it.

The downside is that the bar has nothing that I want to drink so I pop next door into the Imperial. I keep trying to tell them about the excellent bottled beers from Great Orme Brewery but nothing ever changes on that front. The only other downside is the breakfast sausage.

We paid £75 per night for the room and breakfasts and the fantastic sea view. Can that be beaten for value?

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the front to get a sea view, The annexe does not have any views.

We arrived early checked in and left our small case, fine, we returned later and was shown to our room which was in the annex which is not part of the main hotel, found there was no heating on so on our way out told the receptionist and she told us they forgot to put it on.
On our return to the room for the night, not long after there were people banging on different doors including ours, this went on all night until the early hours, the night porter had told the receptionist that she had heard a lot of banging but could not see anyone, we felt in a vulnerable situation and our room became a hiding place until daylight it was awful. We told the receptionist in the morning and she told us that there was a group of men staying and she would have a word, too late for us then, we have stayed in the main hotel before in the main hotel which was more pleasurable, but I feel that the annex is more of a guest house used by builders working away, don't think we will be staying again which is a pity really.

Room Tip: Stay in the main part of the hotel not in the annex not pleasant at all

Booked with The Iris Hotel as a last minute deal for one night at a cost of £31.00 including breakfast. We were not expecting too much for this price and all we wanted was a place to sleep that was clean. We were given a room in the annexe. The room was small/cosy, it will not suit guests that expect more space or possibly if staying more than a night or two. We would stay in an annexe room again based on the above price. Although not much room, the wardrobe space is ample, clean bed/bathroom etc and there was plenty of tea/coffee etc. Adequate towels and basic toiletries. We were fortunate that fellow guests in the other rooms that made up the annexe were considerate of noise as I think the little noise we did hear was general coming and going. However the low conversation could be heard in rooms so had that been magnified in the late hours it may have been a problem. A positive for us was that the room could be made to be nice and warm if staying in winter months by controlling the radiator. The room/annexe aside, we cannot comment on bedrooms in the main part of the hotel, however the dining room was very spacious and clean and the staff/service was excellent. Plenty of choices for breakfast and food plentiful and of good standard. Customer service both in the dining and reception areas were very good. You get what you pay for so I would suggest that the size of the room/annexe is the only reason the price was such a good deal as the other facilities in this hotel were above average.

We made a late booking and cannot believe how lucky we were. I just loved the room, it was of a good size, and had the most magical view of the sea and coastline, it was beautifully clean and tastefully furnished. Together with this we had breakfast in a lovely dining room and the breakfast was first class, the waitresses couldn't have been better, such friendly and efficient girls and I really liked the background music which was played at just the right level. The girl on the reception desk was exceptional.

Room Tip: choose a room with a sea view.
