Description: Within easy walking distance of the town centre, Ipswich's most original restaurant, Mariners, is an antique Dutch customs gunboat, moored along Neptune Quay. You can relax in its wonderful atmosphere and its polished brass ambience. From a quick snack for lunch on the upper deck to a romantic dinner on the lower deck, it is the perfect place for an evening on the sea front.

Mariners on the marina has been our favourite restaurant for last few years. Its been a regular birthday and romantic dinner venue.
Firstly, historically the ship has had a very varied past and well worth reading about.
But ask the staff and they can tell you all about it.
So the food and staff are outstanding. The wine list extensive and they are all perfectly matched to the food.
As both contemporary and tradition French, the food speaks for itself, but you must have the cheese board it's perfect with a glass of port too.
We love it and sure you will too. Book early though as it get very busy.
Hope to go back very soon

Thank Andrew H

We were lucky enough to have been given a voucher for Mariners as a birthday gift. Having had our first date here several years ago, needless to say, we were delighted at the prospect of returning (although we have visited Mariners from time to time in between).

We e-mailed the manager in advance to book and we mentioned that it was a birthday gift and that it was the venue of our first date. We were greeted politely on arrival and shown to our table.

As always, the menu choice was extensive and we could not fault the food but we were a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgement either of my birthday or the anniversary of our first date.

However, the food was delicious and the service was superb!

Had a really lovely lunch here, the food was wonderful and there was a good choice for vegetarians, which is always nice to find in a French restaurant. All 3 courses were fantastic - especially the pudding. I will definitely return here, hopefully on a sunny day next time. The set 3 course menu is very good value for money.

Booked an 'upmarket 'restaurant for a special birthday, what a disappointment. Very limited choice on menu, sparkling water served warm, second bottle had to suggest an ice bucket to the waiter. Thai salad was cesare salad without the cheese or crutons and what happened to the noodles. Food average lacking in any real flavour. overall a poor experience that will not be repeated.
