There is so much right about this place; in fact, it is almost perfect apart from one thing. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, good TV and wi-fi, there is plenty of drawer and cupboard space, the towels were soft and fluffy, the shower was one of the best we have seen, there were lots of little extras: bottles of water, biscuits, Bible, generous amounts of body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The shutters are an excellent way of letting in light or blocking it out as needed. Apart from these things in the room, guests can use the garden and also the dining room where there is fresh milk and a supply of teas and coffees. The cooked part of the breakfast is pre-ordered so there are no long waits but everything is still very relaxed and has a homely atmosphere. The manageress (Milly) and cook (Sheree) are lovely ladies and most helpful. One morning we did not have time for a cooked breakfast so we ordered take-away sandwiches. They came in a bag with biscuits, brioche cakes, water and serviettes just like a proper picnic. But – and it is a big 'but' – sadly the parking arrangements are very complicated. There are eight spaces in two banks of four and you have to leave a note on your dashboard with your room number. If you are in the front row, you may be in bed or in the shower when somebody bangs on your door because they need to get their car out urgently. Or you may be in the back row and need to get out promptly only to find that the person in front has gone off for a walk without saying where they are going. There is not much space to open the car doors when most spaces are used. This arrangement would make us think twice before booking there again but apart from this we would have given it 5 stars and it is one of the best.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room overlooking the garden

We stayed at Blue Shutters last August and really loved it. The owner (then) was friendly helpful and accommodating.
We were therefore surprised to find that we had been put in a really small family room on the top floor accessed by a tiny flight of stairs (really hard to access for a family with a 3 year-old and luggage).
We have no access to WiFi either.
I contacted the number left in case of questions to let them know and got a call back from a really rude woman who claimed to be the manageress and not the owner (hence accepting absolutely no responsibility for anything).
Apparently it’s our fault that we can’t access the WiFi. It’s also our fault that they did not know we had a child staying when it was clearly stated on our booking.
Over priced and overrated!
Would not stay again!

Wonderful staff and great accommodation. Superb breakfast. Good location.
Would be perfect if it had aircon and parking is limited due to size.
Close to a main road but quite quiet. Good bathroom and shower. Plenty of wardrobe space. Comfy bed.
Recommended!

I would like to tell you how good this guest house is but I don't want it to be fully booked next time I want to stay. Read the other reviews and I suppose I'll have to accept that I need to book early.
