After 40 years on the Quay side and being 2 minutes walk past the rest of the restaurants it shows they have got it right to draw people in again and again for 4 decades.
This is now my preferred choice for authentic Italian food and especially for the seafood. I have never had Scallops (huge) or Mussels that were so fresh and perfectly cooked.
All the traditional pasta dishes and pizzas are works of art with smells and tastes to match. Anyone that has left a bad review must have never tasted good food and expected the lasagna to be frozen from Tesco's.
My wife had steak last night (medium rare) and this was perfectly (pink) cooked and the sirloin was nearly as tender as fillet. No frozen chips here! A choice of sauces and the Gorgonzola was immense.
What I particularly liked was the willingness to adapt dishes to suit personal tastes. A friend preferred the sea bass fillets without a sauce and asked for it to be fried and presented with lemon and pepper. The suggestion was welcomed and no trouble.
It is difficult to leave room for desert which are nearly all made in the restaurant.
The decor is a little dated like many good Italian restaurants. Given the choice between a posh national chain with fancy decorations and this with the chefs expertise making all the statements then La Lupa wins hands down. Well done, we will be back!
