Stayed one night, very warm welcome and a lovely clean room with everything I needed. Very impressed to find a fridge in the room! The owners work hard to retain a homely feeling, much nicer than the bigger places.

The Angus suited us really well, as a group of 14 cyclists, working our way along the Hadrians Wall Route. We had secure storage for our bikes, the lounge was lovely and the bedrooms cosy and comfortable, although some were disturbed by street noise in the rooms at the front of the hotel. Walking distance from the town centre and really close to the cycle route. The breakfasts were all very fresh and tasty. Just what we needed!

Room tip: Avoid the rooms at the front of the hotel, if you need peace and quiet to sleep

This is a nice B & B in a good location. Breakfast was average, at best. Our concern was with the man who runs the place. Just unnecessarily grumpy in response to every request for information and advice. Could not answer a question without the preface "as I already told your wife and her friend" or "that is in the book in your room." Lighten up, man-- talking to people and helping people is what the job is all about.

Room tip: Back side, away from Scotland Road

Had decent reviews on TA so booked it for two nights. Got two rooms in an old renovated house. Rooms were basic with en-suite bathrooms. Mattresses were soft and not comfortable. The property needs refurbishing - new carpeting will make the whole atmosphere brighter and more conducive. Noisy if your room is located next to the main street but they have double glazing which helps a lot.

A very convenient parking lot lies two minutes away adjoining a park. Breakfast is served in a room that also serves as an operating restaurant - nice hot breakfast available. A nice living room is available for relaxing in.

Proprietors Marin and Rachel - helpful and friendly.

Room tip: Choose one away from the main road
