We visit Center Parcs regularly and have always enjoyed our stay because the water facilities are always extraordinary. Previously we have stuck to Longleat or Elvendon Forest. This time we thought we would try the newest of the Parcs, Woburn. Organisationally is is great, the Parc uses the latest tech and is split between two main locations so nothing is a long bike ride away.
However, they are already carrying out renovations so our first night restaurant booking had to be rearranged. Not impressed with our alternative, Hucks as the children's buffet was limited and not refreshed with more food and what was there had obviously been there a while.
The site uses RFI armbands as lodge keys and to can associate your credit card with them so you can pay for food and drink in the water park areas. Great, apart from the fact that there are only two outlets that actually there and the Starbucks one doesn't seem to ever work so you need cash or card again.
Whilst we are on the subject of the water park. This is obviously the height of Parc design such that it minimises staffing and running costs, but this is at the cost of facilities. It's great if you are under 10, if not then you have the Rapids or the slides. There is no pool to swim in - the wave pool is only 0.5 M at its deepest and can't be used for swimming. The jacuzzi pool is the start of the Rapids and is tiny.
THERE IS NOTHING DECENT FOR ADULTS.- even the Rapids are tame compare to other Parcs.
It's not like they have got the space, around the area of the "SWIMMING paradise" as there is scrubland and ponds so they could have built a big pool like they have at Elvendon.
Bottom line, even though we came with two young boys, they enjoy swimming so we won't be bothering with Woburn again.
