Nice hotel and with a few adjustments could be extremely good.

This is a lovely calm relaxing hotel. The fact that they have their own car park made the trip for us.
The down side is that they allocate your room for you. We had room 26 and it was so small you could hardly move. No table to sit at and have coffee etc and a dreadful view. We passed by lots of rooms which looked great but alas we didn’t get one of those. We understand room 20 was very small too according to its occupants.
The housekeeping standards were definitely not up to par. Dirty drawers, cobwebs, bathroom half cleaned, dirty skirting boards and glasses not washed properly.
Breakfast was lovely the only downside was the coffee which was far too strong but was rectified with hot water.
Having raised my issues no one seemed particularly interested or concerned.
The bar area and seating area outside were very nice indeed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding etc was fresh and soft.
If we could book a room we would go back but we wouldn’t take the gamble.
However we still enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

This is the second time that we have booked this hotel. We loved it the first time, had no issues so booked a 4 day break. Room lovely with a walk in shower. Breakfasts and all meals were fantastic. Could not fault the staff. We only had one issue, during the night the fire alarm went off so we vacated the hotel. There was only a night manager on duty and he was on his mobile phone to someone about the alarm so didn’t keep us informed. After about 40 mins we decided to go back to our rooms but could not get to sleep for worrying. The next day not one member of staff mentioned the alarm. We thought that two night managers should be on duty so that one could look after the guests and one to locate the problem, which turned out to be a water leak.

Never difficult to review this hotel as we have been visitors for many years and it never disappoints. Just enjoyed a lovely 4 day break with our grandson. The staff are all so nice, professional, friendly, helpful couldn’t ask for better. The food is excellent. When we take our grandson we like to eat in the Lounge as it’s more relaxed and casual. Breakfast in the Dining room is lovely.
Thank you again Palm Court for another 1st class break. We’ll see you soon.

I stayed at The Palm Court for the first time last night, whilst on business - and I'm so glad I did!
Friendly and professional staff, comfortable rooms, free parking, free and efficient WiFi (I had no problems working from there), and a wonderful breakfast this morning.

It's an independent hotel that uses local suppliers for its restaurant and room refreshments, which includes free range bacon and sausages, free range eggs and tea/coffee from Taylor's of Harrogate - so nice to get proper Yorkshire tea in the room instead of the awful generic 'English breakfast' blend so many others use.

I will definitely be staying again for work, and will be booking for my family next time we're on the coast for the Open Air Theatre etc.

Would highly recommend.

Room tip: You need to pop into the hotel to get a parking permit - the car park at the front doesn't belong to the hotel, and the car park you can use is just down the side.

Hi, we went as 2 couples and a couple was there already we knew.
The hotel frontage looked lovely.
Booking in and was a bit embarrassing, I booked direct with the hotel and gave them my credit card details. It tells you on their website that yiu have to pay in booking and no refund for cancellation. Thar was fine, I got a receipt for my booking confirmation when I called back. My husband went to book in on arrival and then they asked for card payment which they then took off his card. I didn't know they hadn't taken the money for booking as I just presumed they had when taking details.
We paid £504 for a king size bed for 3 nights.
Our friends paid £500 for 4 nights for double bed.
The rooms were nice. The breakfast was nice and plentiful.
Evening dinner in lounge bar was ok but the next night dinner in restaurant was a bit of a disaster.
Only 6 other people in the restaurant so wasn't busy.
The pleasant young lad took our orders
2 ordered cauliflower rarebit with smoked applewood Beignet and 2 ordered chicken....
5 mins after the young lad came back and said we haven't any chicken....I mean it's a restaurant and no chicken which is pretty standard.I had seen the farm food shop van delivery that day from my window overlooking the frontage.. We changed to fish gratin.
It took 40 mins to arrive.
It was small portions and our fish gratin I liked to the size of m&s microwave meal we buy for 4.50.... not much fish but tasted nice obviously you don't expect to pay that amount in a restaurant but £22 each for a small portion of fish in sauce with breadcrumbs on the top was a let down.
Worse was the mens food , a small portion of basically cauliflower cheese the smoked Applewood Beigets were missing for people that don't know like the men. It's sort of a doughnut typed fritters without the hole.

We were so disappointed we just couldn't be bothered to complain....as I hadn't seen the mens dishes weren't complete for talking to my friend until we had finished almost......

Our friends already there said they meant to say don't eat in the restaurant you will be disappointed.. No wonder not many people are in at all...
The weather was sunny and warm so we had a couple of nice day s had it been raining and miserable we would have stayed in a pretty soulless lounge...only few people there.. We don't think we would stay there again but if we dis we wouldn't eat dinner in..
Perhaps they need to come down a little as the menu was slightly pretentious. It's not a high class restaurant and perhaps the chef needs to come down to earth a little ....in my humble opinion. W don't mind paying more if you get what you ordered and it's a nice meal but ours was more like a starter...

Room tip: Oops what pool ?
