A group of us travelled down to Winchester for a days Fishing on the Sat , We stayed at the travel lodge at Tothill service station and had previously looked and found the nearest Pub , which turned out to be the Carpenters Arms in Burghclere ...a short walk from the travelodge.
A real country Pub Run by Chippy and Chris and amazing staff who went out of their way to make us welcome ..beams and old world charm added to quality food and drink ...what more can you ask for.....well trust me it gets better ...the four of us mixed in with the locals and had an evening where you think ....where did the time go ..after several hours we asked Chris if we could ring a taxi to take us back to the travelodge as it was raining ....and were instead offered a lift back in their own car ...now I can't say they offer this to every person or group ...but with many pubs closing down and the trend set to theme less bars with no atmosphere or history it reminds you that the great british Pub is still out there and The carpenters Arms is without doubt a jewel in crown.
A traditional Pub offering everything you could ever want for a great night out.
see you next year from the boys ...Tight lines and full Pints !
