IT was my husbands birthday and we were spending the day at Newbury racers. After an afternoon of racing we arrived at the hotel booked in and taken to our room.We decided to run bath, only to find the water was luke warm and also the shower was the same. Then we decided to have a meal in the hotel my husband ordered a steak with chips and salad. The steak arrived burnt all round the edges and really tough and the chips were cold.I ordered Lasagne which seemed fine. But i was up all night with upset stomach. Also could not sleep for the noise outside. It was not worth £98.00 we will not be going their again. We did complain
about the steak and we did.not pay for that.

Pub - old and a bit run down but very friendly and excellent hospitality.

Food - fantastic.

Staff - couldn't fault these.

Accommodation - to say that they left ear plugs to help you with a good nights sleep was all that you need to be told. Very noisy (even though we'd read previous reviews and Yes, we had requested rooms at the back). Also, the hotel room was VERY dirty with hair that fell from a towel into the bath, water stains on the toilet seat, empty water bottle and empty ear plug packet behind the bedside cabinet with dust that had been there month and then cobwebs from the light fittings.

Location - good central location in the heart of most of the activity.

As I said in the title of the review - VERY MIXED OPINION.

Room Tip: If you have the slightest touch of OCD (which I do have) and you want a good nights sleep (which we wanted) then don't stay here. If you aren't - then the hospitality, location and food outweigh the cleanliness and noise!

Attentive staff, lovely rooms, great food, and a nice traditional bar.

If you need a central location, which offers comfy beds in nice rooms, then look now further.

The manager and staff are excellent, and nothing is too much for them to help you with. A great team!

Food is great too, and quick to come to you after ordering.

This Hotel has, and will continue to get repeat business from me.

Thank you Jon and team!

Aweful place. needs a good overhaul, specially the windows which need double glazing so you can't hear the dreadful noise coming from the nightclub opposite. Didn't sleep a wink for 3 nights. Came home exhausted. Would not recommend.

Very nice room. Staff seemed quite stressed and one female member of staff was running round at breakfast making very loud 'huff' sounds. Staff are suppossed to take breakfast order at table but asfter several minutes I walked to the bar to tell them what I wanted. Staff didn't seem very approachable However, when asking for assitance were helpfull.
