a fantastic location in folkstone, short level walk to the town the bus and train station, and right on the famous "leas" easy stroll to the harbour , we normaly use a hotel in the harbour but it was full , the Lismore was an unexpected find at a reasonable rate, comfortable room with tv , shower etc , breakfast was included and was quite adequate for or needs , we parked very easliy right outside the hotel and never had a problem parking, the Manager/Owner was a very honest caring person who is not only eager to please but as he is slowly building up the business he is open to ideas and recomendations to which he hopes to implement in due course , the hotel is clean and all the staff were very helpfull and polite , would recomend this hotel for a no frills "olde worlde " edwardian feel stay, will stay again in future . thanks to the manager for making us welcome during our weeks stay.

I booked at the last minute - LateRooms.com - and was pleased to be offered a room at a price I could afford that was so close to Dover and other ferry ports in the middle of July. I arrived later than intended, but there was no problem about checking in. There is no restaurant attached to the hotel - except for breakfast, included in the rate - so I was directed to the nearest 'takeaway' places. They would have been happy for me to order for delivery. The room was indeed basic, but I got a better night's sleep than I had expected, so comfort was not an issue. The doors between the bedroom and the 'en suite' were heavy duty fire doors, so I am glad I did not need to negotiate them during the night. There were ample supplies of tea/coffee, and I was also given the complimentary bottle of spring water. Sadly the TV was not only very old but the aerial was incapable of effectively receiving the signal - I had to hang it from the curtain cords.... Lots of power points, but no access to a hairdryer, and with no phone in the room there was no way of contacting reception to get one. I probably won't stay there again - but it is close to the ferry port, so you never know!

We stayed for one night before taking an early morning ferry. We arrived early Thursday evening, and parked (free) in the street right outside. The room was basic, but spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. The communal rooms were very pleasant, and they have a pretty garden, plus a pool table and table football available free. The staff were delightful and couldn't have been more helpul. Shortly after arrival we were sent a complimentary bottle of iced spring water - v. welcome on a hot day - and the following morning we were served a good, generous continental breakfast in the lounge at 5am, before leaving for the ferry. It was a pleasant stay, and for the amazing low price wouldn't hesitate to recomend it.
