“Authentic rural haven with great access to stunning Scottish coast & southern islands”
Reviewed August 5, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Large, comfortable and in a great location only 10-15 mins from Dunoon (2 reasonably sized supermarkets, several takeaways, petrol, ferry, etc.)... but feeling totally rural with a great enclosed garden (our kids and Cocker Spaniel seemed to love it). Really nice open fire (logs provided) and patio doors in the lounge, giving a wonderful view towards the hills at the head of the valley. Nice new barbecue which we made use of (I got mildly midge-bitten, but they always attack me). Some might say the decor could do with an update... but everything was extremely comfortable and suited us perfectly.

After 30 mins I was completely relaxed. Job done. The neighbour said hello (once) and was friendly, but otherwise we didn't see a soul for the whole week. I called to report a broken tap on the first day and it was fixed the day after (gold star to the chap the owner has got looking after the place for them!).

The only downside was the lack of a (small) freezer compartment in the fridge... would have been nice to keep some ice cream / lollies in for the kids.

“Comfortable accommodation and great location.”
Reviewed July 12, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Burnlea Cottage provided Ideal accommodation and a great location for our family celebration of six adults. Comfortable, good sized bedrooms with large lounge and dining room traditionally furnished, the open fire place added a cosy feel. Large garden with stunning views of the surrounding hills and ample parking space for a number of cars. A great base for exploring the hidden gems of the Cowal peninsular. Main bathroom was functional with plenty of hot water on tap but could do with a little updating, the kitchen was well equipped although a freezer or freezer compartment would make home catering easier. Overall a great cottage in a stunning area we all loved it.

“Just what the doctor ordered !!!!”
Reviewed March 17, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Burnlea is a very old cottage with very thick walls, so you cannot hear the heavy Scottish rain lashing down outside. This cottage is well equipped, and although the décor is very out-dated, it is ideal for the local weather conditions, meaning you can walk in with soaking wet clothes, and not worry about marking new carpets etc.
The cottage is very well insulated, and the heating works very well.
Entry to the property and parking are a bit tight.
Ideal for walkers, stalkers etc.
Would definitely go again

“Excellently located comfortable cottage”
Reviewed September 19, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at Burnlea finding it to be well located with easy accessibility to the lochs, countryside and Glasgow. It was also close to amenities and had a good selection of pubs and restaurants nearby. The cottage itself was in a really pretty valley and we saw regular sightings of Red Dear and birds of prey. There were 5 adults, 2 children and a dog staying in the cottage and although the cottage could be improved with some updating/decorating it was very spacious and well equipped. We found the booking agent really helpful and there was a good information guide in the cottage itself. We would stay here again.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed May 4, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Really tranquil cozy cottage. Beautiful location in little known corner of Argyll -great walks straight from the door - waterfalls, hills ,sea lochs gardens, castles all nearby. Feels utterly remote yet 15 mins from Dunoon's shops and internet cafes - check out Season cafe on sea front - wifi and great baking. Slept so soundly in comfy beds, great relaxing on big squishy sofa in front of a roaring log fire. We cooked fabulous local wild venison and had great meals at local restaurants ( Inver Cottage at castle Lachlan - superb, even for the vegan in the familly) A great holiday - definately going back
