“We look forward to coming back for many years”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

My friends and I look forward all year to our annual stay at Hay Riverside Retreats. The houses are wonderfully located with big terraces overlooking the Wye. They are beautifully equipped, always immaculately cleaned, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We are welcomed with lovely cake and bread and other food basics, and, this year, delicious raspberries as well. It's a one minute walk to all Hay-on-Wye has to offer, so what's not to like?

“Top notch accommodation in the best location in Hay”

We were looking for versatile, but comfortable, accommodation for various family members - including heavily pregnant daughter - in Hay-on-Wye for other daughter's wedding weekend. This fitted the bill perfectly and was so lovely that we all want to return as soon as possible (possibly with baby!). It is not inexpensive but it is certainly value for money and provided us with a level of comfort, space and freedom that I don't think we could have found elsewhere. It was also an easy 10 minute walk to the wedding reception venue and close to all the facilities and shops of the town. The property is well appointed, with quality furnishings and great fittings (we absolutely loved the downstairs terrace and the wonderful fold-back glass doors in the middle floor sitting room that gave on to a balcony overlooking the river); the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent with lovely bath/shower products (Compagnie de Provence I think). We appreciated the breakfast starter kit and delicious fruit cake left for us. Bed linen is Dorma, towels and other kitchen utensils are John Lewis. There is also a washer/dryer in case you need to clean clothes during your stay, a large dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The art work and décor are lovely too! The only drawback is, perhaps, the parking but it is not insurmountable - however, best to come with just one vehicle or, at a push, two. Another important point - it was absolutely spotless!!!!

“Beautiful comfortable house in lovely location”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed for a long weekend and it was perfect. The house is lovely with everything you could need. The setting is fantastic with lovely uninterrupted views of the river. Well furnished and very clean. We walked down to the Warren along the river and swam. Hay is a lovely spot to wander around. Will be back.

“absolutely wonderful place”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed as a family group ranging in age from 16 to 87, grandparents, daughter and grandchildren. We all loved the stylish comfort and fantastic views from the house. Everything has been thought of to make for a relaxing stay. The welcome pack was the best I have ever had. We had lovely weather but had that not been the case we would still have enjoyed staying in this lovely house. A special thanks to Poppy who was very helpful and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed canoeing on the Wye and walking into Hay and exploring. Open mic night at The Globe was very enjoyable too.

“Beautiful house on the River Wye really close to the centre of Hay”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We had an amazing stay in Hay Retreats; the house was gorgeous and perfectly kitted out for a luxurious 1 week holiday. The kitchen is full of great quality equipment and there are tea bags, cake, milk, etc., there on arrival so that you can settle in before having to go shopping!

The terrace off the kitchen is great for relaxing and watching the river flow by and the lounge shares the same view with a huge foldback glass concertina door onto a balcony. We watched gorgeous days and super dramatic rainstorms from there and it was fabulous.

The beds were really comfy and the showers were really powerful.

It was an easy walk into Hay for all the great bookshops, pubs and cafes, and the deli which is fantastic for stocking up for the week with super yummy bits. Especially their sausage rolls, scotch eggs and beers!

We had family join us for a few nights and they loved it, too. We could not have been happier.

“Excellent Base in Hay”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Excellent modern town centre accommodation. Very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. Despite being 2 mins walk from centre of Hay the house is quiet and peaceful. Would recommend for anyone wanting to stay in Hay itself.

“We all love the sound of the water. Me, my partner and our little dog.”
Reviewed 14 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The first thing you notice at Riverside Retreats is of course the river. We all love water and being so close to the rushing water was lovely.

The house was well-equipped for our needs and the finish was smart and sophisticated.

We love that you're dog-friendly, especially Miss Mollie who spent quite some time one evening staring into the night, listening to all the wonderful river sounds.
