“Large, eclectic and homely - perfect for a family get together”
Reviewed June 1, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We had 5 nights here over half term with 4 adults and 5 children (3-11). The kids absolutely loved the upstairs bunk room, the games room, the trapeze in the sitting room (!) and the trampoline and climbing frame/slide in the garden. The huge family kitchen was well equipped and very homely for all of us to easily cook and eat together (could have fitted in another 8 at least in the kitchen). The sitting room is large and comfortable. All the beds had lovely white linen, and fluffy white towels in abundance. The location is great - just 15 minutes from Buxton but surrounded by fields and woods - so it feels very much off the beaten track whilst not being. There is no signal there, no wifi and no tv - which although strange to begin with, meant us 4 adults had no choice but to properly switch off and relax - which felt GREAT!

They downstairs shower room and loo are in old corn silos which is so unusual, and delightful!

As a previous review said, this isn't luxury, and doesn't claim to be - but really is very homely, and has a wonderful vibe. We very much enjoyed our stay here - and would recommend it to large family groups - who don't mind the odd cobweb or two (no spiders spotted though!). If I could change one thing, it would be to have better mattresses on the beds - but we all slept well there regardless.

A welcoming, kooky, interesting and memorable place for a lovely, relaxed family holiday - in stunning surroundings.

Liked best: The corn silo loo/shower and the trapeze in the sitting room plus the general ambience and location
Liked least: The mattresses (but I've slept in worse - they just weren't top notch).

A great place to stay if you want comfortable accommodation for a group of five or more. This place is in a great location - in between Buxton and Leek and offers the perfect place to stay for active and inactive folk alike!

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed January 4, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Our party of 7 friends and 2 young children stayed for 2 nights to see in the New Year.
Gib Tor Farm is in a great location between Leek and Buxton and was easy to find.

The Barn is amazing - interesting décor, cosy yet slightly bonkers. Everyone loved it.
It isn't luxurious and doesn't claim to be, but it is clean and welcoming with everything that you need feel at home.
Once the fires were lit it soon warmed up. Ample wood was provided.

The oven packed up on our arrival but luckily Kate's family were on hand to offer the use of theirs in the farm house. Thanks to Roz and Co for making us all feel welcome.

There isn't a TV or WiFi or mobile reception which made a refreshing change. Bring board games and entertain yourselves.

Great value and I highly recommend Gib Tor Barn

“Amazing place to stay - small groups or up to 24 !”
Reviewed November 9, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We stayed in Gib Tor last week for our annual Architects of Air meeting - it was the perfect place for us. Beautiful location, great building with different architects' contribution, comfortable sleeping for 24 people, super meeting places and delicious food prepared by lovely Kate, who could not have been a better host. If you are looking for an interesting place in the wilds but only only 15 minutes from Buxton we cannot recommend it enough ......THANK YOU Kate ...

“Fantastic place ... perfect for seeing friends.”
Reviewed October 7, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We were a group of Alumni members of a university hillwalking club. The house was perfect, so spacious and lots of room to socialise and stay warm with the two log fires. The location meant we could easily get out walking in the Peaks and we didn't even feel the need to go out for dinner and instead we did a fish and chip run into Leek and sat around enjoying a beer / glass of wine by the fire.

A fantastic place to stay with friends at a very reasonable price. As someone said we are slowly going up in the world after our many nights in sleeping bags on barn floors.

Many thanks to Kate for preparing the bunkhouse so nicely.
