My family and I stayed here on a Saturday night before a trip to a nearby attraction. I had chosen this hotel as I knew it was on the Festival Leisure Park and would provide us with plenty of eating options during our stay. I also knew it was slightly away from the main area and thought this would afford us a quiet night - how wrong I was!
We found and checked in OK, the receptionist can't be paid in words as I think she uttered 2 or 3 during the whole process!
We proceeded to our room and all looked OK so far. A double bed and also a double sofa bed for the 3 of us. Nice large telly woth plenty of freeview channels. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. The double bed was OK, not overly comfortable but OK. The double sofa bed though was really uncomfortable and also sagging quite badly in the middle, good job it was only my young daughter in there. There is no way 2 people would be able to sleep on it as they would end up together in the middle of the bed!
We went out and had something to eat and then returned for a peaceful nights sleep - not a chance!
Firstly we heard the constant sound of revving engines as the locals were putting their cars through the paces - that finally quietened down around 12AM. Next up our room neighbours came back from their night out and went in and out of their room CONSTANTLY. The must of heard their door slam about 30 - 40 times between 1.45 - 3.30AM. I have no idea what they were doing and also dont think I want to know!
Lastly and by no means least, we had the many people congregating under our window during the night (it must of been a smoking area) and discussing their night out.
So, all in all, not a great nights sleep.
Now I know that these problems are not the fault of the hotel, so I cant fault the actual hotel. I would just not advise this hotel for a family stay but if you and your mates want a well located hotel, where you can run amok all night you would be hard pushed to find a better hotel for this, than the Holiday Inn - Basildon!
