The scotch egg and baked Alaska were both very good. The porterhouse steak was excellent. I would have preferred some different side items. May be next time.

popped in for a quick lunch and picked the salmon and prawn salad; we were told there wasn't any salmon available but would still have to pay the full price. I was with a client therefore did not wish to make a fuss; the prawns were ice cold and the avocado solid so totally disappointing meal.

Having been a regular at this pub, after hearing disappointing stories, we haven't been for a while, and WHAT a disappointment. It used to be a busy pub with lots of customers where booking was essential. They had set menus at set prices that were excellent value and pulled in the punters. But now, dear oh dear, the food was obviously "bought-in" and not fresh cooked on the premises, with top prices, very disappointing, the fish and chips were full of bones and the batter the most weird bright yellow colour, the pastry on the pie, heavy and solid and not as it used to be. The people on the next table could not even chew the beef in their pie and complained. This WAS an excellent pub, in an excellent location with good value well cooked food......it isn't any more.

This used to be a lovely place to go but the menu has shrunk to next to no choice. All the veggie options were not available along with several of the main menu. Three of the dessert options were also not available and when we asked to have something off the children's dessert menu instead were told this was not allowed as our daughter was over 12. It was a Sunday lunchtime but very few people were there. Very slow service.
