I stayed here for one night on my way to RAF Cosford. I arrived late in the evening and it was hard to find the hotel in the darkness. There's no illuminated signage. When I eventually found it I was greeted by very friendly staff and soon checked in (payment in advance). I chose the optional full English breakfast (no extra charge). There is a cosy bar by reception which is a good place to relax and have a drink.
My room was on the first floor. Quite large, well furnished and tastefully decorated. Plenty of desk space (with convenient power outlets) and free wifi, ideal for business travel. There was also a flatscreen TV, but I didn't use it so I don't know which channels were provided. The large double bed was supremely comfortable. That and the quiet location made for very restful sleep. The en suite bathroom was of a reasonable size, clean and well fitted. The electric shower was powerful enough to provide good water pressure. Large towels are provided.
The hot breakfast was very generous and tasty plate of food, prepared to order. There is also a cold breakfast buffet available if you don't fancy the traditional full English.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I was made to feel very much at home. The York Hotel is a delightfully relaxed place to stay, yet operates at a high standard. Highly recommended.More
