After pestering my husband (not much of a foodie) to take me out for a nice dinner. Not knowing where we were going I was really looking forward to a surprise. I couldnt of been more pleased with his choice. After a warm welcome we were shown to a relaxing lounge area with a log fire and comfy sofas. A bit relaxed you might think, but really in keeping with the amiable but professional service. We decided on the tasting menu, and after a quick chat with the chef, who even managed to impress my normally 'steak and chips' husband, We had a fantastic night. Chatting with other diners in the bar afterwards it was easy to see why the restaurant was so busy. All had thoroughly enjoyed themselves, one couple who were staying the night recomended we should definatly stay the night next time. Who knows, i may be able to convince the other half to a whole night away. Fingers crossed!!!

My husband and I stayed here on a Saturday night for a well earned break from our 2 year old. We booked a luxury room with the 7 course taster menu. The room was stunning and spotlessly clean and every need taken care of. We are big foodies and have eaten at some exceptional restaurants around the world, the food at Orles was up there with the best. As good (if not better) than the Michelin star meals we have eaten. The staff were the friendliest in any hotel we have stayed in and it was a pleasure to meet the very interesting and personable owner. Thanks for a magical stay, we can't wait for the next time.

We recently stayed at Orles Bar and will definitely be going back! From the moment we walked through the door we knew it was going to be fantastic. The staff were friendly but in the most relaxed way, we were offered refreshments in the bar and shown to our room which was beautiful.

We stayed in D'Arcy Spice which is a newly refurbished suite, it had it's own entrance which made it feel very private. Fantastic interior coupled with a new bathroom with a roll top bath and sparkly ceiling was just perfect.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening which if you stay at this hotel you just have to do! All locally sourced and cooked to a very high standard. The attention to detail is second to none and it was a real treat to meet the chef who is extremely knowledgable and very passionate about his food.

The whole experience is a foodie one and breakfast is a real treat, I had pancakes, smoked bacon and maple syrup which isn't something I would normally go for and my partner had kedgeree, both were amazing!

We're already looking to when we can go back but this time we will be staying two nights! Well done Orles Barn, you're one in a million!

Room Tip: The website is really good with great pictures of the rooms.

Have never rated on TripAdvisor before but felt this place really deserved it. Went with my girlfriend for her birthday and from the moment we arrived we were treated brilliantly. We stayed in Pixie Apple and the look on my girlfriends face when she saw the room with the bathtub in was worth the price alone.

Dan the chef met us in the bar (great pint of Wye Valley Bitter) and suggested the tasting menu. It was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. Trout and cauliflower puree with cauliflower tempura is not something I would normally go for but it was absolutely stunning.

This is cooking at very very high standard. Combine that with beautiful rooms and very friendly staff and this is a place we will definitely come back to.

A big thankyou to Richard, Kelly, Hazel and Dan

First class stay from start to finish. Stayed night after Valentines for romantic night without kids. Very warmly greeted by Richard, the owner who offered us refreshments. We had just had a naughty cream tea so we declined and Richard helped us with our bags to the Pixie Apple suite. Could not have asked for a more lovely room. Huge, beautifully decorated and furnished, big exposed beams with a deep and wide freestanding roll top bath with mini colour changing led lights above it! Their was also a walk-in wardrobe with dressing table, a sofa and new ensuite shower room.
We had an aperitif and nibbles by the fire in the bar area and having looked at the menu, opted to upgrade to the 7 course tasting menu. So glad we did, it was a truly pleasing culinary experience. Dan, the Chef, came out of the kitchen to consult with us on our likes and dislikes. What he then created was one of, if not the best, dining experiences of our lives. The dishes were imaginative, beautifully presented, tailored to our tastes and most importantly tasted delicious. There was a huge amount to eat and we wished we hadn't had that cream tea 5 hours earlier.
We had a very comfortable nights sleep and enjoyed a nice cooked breakfast, served by Richard's wife who was very warm and friendly.
The hotel had lots of character and was very clean throughout.
Would highly recommend staying there.

My boyfriend and I spent two wonderful nights at this picturesque hotel. Our room 'Orange Pippin' was perfect! With its beautiful decoration and original features it made for a very relaxing and unique get away. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and we felt at home straight away. Nothing was too much trouble and we were amazed by their attention to detail. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful and gives off a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and to say the food was fantastic would be an understatement. Using local produce we were blown away by the amazing taste and presentation of the food, it was exceptional! The decor in the restaurant fits in perfectly with the relaxed environment and the amazing food. We did not feel rushed at all and were able to relax after dinner in the bar area with comfortable seating and a warm log fire. Just a walk away from the beatiful town of Ross on Wye and a short drive away from Monmouth, it was the perfect location for a romantic get away. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and will definitely be returning in the near future.
