Stayed for one night in a party of 4 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality at the Kings Head. We took advice off Trip advisor and booked dinnner in the restaurant and am so glad we did. The food was exceptional at dinner and the service was very good as well. Breakfast got a big thumbs up with a wide choice of fresh items to choose from.
The rooms are 'interesting' - different shapes and reached via stairs which are uneven in places but this in my opinion adds to the charm. If you want modern boxes to sleep in try travelodges ! They were comfortable and very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I couldnt fault this hotel and we will definitely return as it is an ideal base for touring the lovely local area.

I stayed at the Kings Head in February 2012 on a recommendation from a friend and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in the middle of Ross on Wye and has free parking at the rear of the hotel which is perfect. Our room was a the top of the building and was spacious but the stairs were very challenging! We had dinner at the restaurant in the evening and it was a little expensive but well worth the money. The staff were welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in early February for two nights for my birthday and cannot fault the hotel at all. The room was excellent as were the staff and the food in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

We wanted to have just one night away from the routine of daily life and are so pleased that we picked this hotel. The welcome was friendly, the room was clean and the food - we picked the dinner, bed and breakfast package - was freshly cooked and piping hot. We also found the residents of Ross on Wye to be very friendly - on several occasions whilst poring over a map, we were asked whether we needed any help and one woman even reversed her car back to see if were were lost! All in all, an excellent choice for a short break.

We chose this hotel because you were able to stay for Saturday night only. Several of the other hotels in the area would only take bookings for two nights at the weekend. It proved an excellent choice. They have an excellent restaurant, much of the food being sourced locally. The local cider and perry are worth trying. The restaurant was obviously popular with the locals. Breakfast was cooked to an equally good standard, I enjoyed locally smoked salmon. We had a very comfortable stay, with the staff being welcoming. The hotel is in a central location, on the High Street. Do check the one way system before trying to find the hotel. This hotel is worth returning to.

Stayed here 29th December 2011 for 1 night en route to our new years vacation.

Having previously stayed in this town before at the Royal hotel we decided to do so again, however when we arrived at the Royal to check in (booked revious evening online via booking.com) we were told there was no booking for us 1 so we gave them the paperwork and the receptionist pointed out we were booked at the King hotel!! what a disappointment at the time as we did enjoy our previous stay here.

However, after making our way to the King Hotel we were greeted courteously and shown promptly to our room.......and boy it turned out to be far better than we had at the royal! so all was well again and we really enjoyed our evening there.

The atmosphere was excellent with a lot of locals in the hotel bar and the restaurant full to the brim that evening , lucky we had booked, and the food was excellent.

So to cap it all we would choose this hotel first if we decide to stay in Ross on Wye again.
