Six of us visited for a meal last weekend. We were sat at a cramped table in the middle of the room, my sister was constantly jostled by every passing waiter.
Our waitress was obviously unhappy in her job and made us feel like an inconvenience rather than customers. My main complaint is that the music noise from the bar area made conversation difficult at anything less than shouted.
The beer was lousy but that seems to be normal in an Italian restaurant. The only upside to the evening was that the lasagna was very good.

Excellent as per usual. Attended for Birthday. A little disappointed that we didn’t get a happy Birthday or extra attention, maybe a slice of birthday cake, but what can I say. Ordered chateau beef as usual, very good, again the usual effort wasn’t put into placement of meal. They usually stack on tomatoe cans etc. Beef was carved at table, drink orders were a little slow, as it was a Tuesday with very few customers.
Still would definitely recommend!!

Where do you go to get a great meal these days, certainly not Portofino. Went for Sunday lunch and came away thoroughly underwhelmed. To start with how can anyone justify £7.50 for a 175ml glass of house red wine? I just went to Wetherspoons and for a very pleasant 175ml glass of Sauvignon blanc, the cost was £2.70 and even better, as it was ordered with a meal was completely free!!
Portofino you are taking the paying customers trousers down and.....
Starter of poached egg and asparagus was so so, main course of roast lamb was inedible and had to be sent back to the kitchen as it was mainly gristle. The waiter offered to replace it (at no cost) and came back a few minutes later with the thinnnest sirloin steak, swimming in liquid, as an alternative. I didn’t want steak, I wanted lamb!
By this time I had lost interest in eating and asked for the bill, to find we were charged the full price, over £50!
So back to the question I started with, where do you go to get a great meal nowadays?

We have long considered Portofino as one of the best restaurants on the Fylde Coast. After yesterday we think differently. The food was excellent, as ever, but the service was awful. We waited in the foyer to be 'booked in' before we were finally summoned into the mojitos bar. When we declared that we were booked in for a meal, they lost interest in us and sent us into the restaurant. After a great meal we were left for 25 minutes - no sweet nor coffee offered - just us asking for the bill to be able to get out. We made a round trip of 20 miles for that and I believe we deserved better. Much better. Not impressed and won't be going back, despite the good food.
