We popped in for Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised. What the dining room lacked in atmosphere, the food more than made up for.
The portion sizes are great (some would say too big) and the prices are fair and we received a warm welcome.
We will definitely be going back for some more; particular favourites were the garlic mushrooms and the ginger pudding.

Stayed here on our way to Edinburgh. This hotel was excellent. The service, food and accommodation was superb and excellent value for money. The owner/manager was very friendly, helpful, well informed and very polite. If we happen to travel through Lockerbie again this is where we will be staying. If you can, make sure you book ahead as we were lucky enough to get the last room. Highly Recommend

We stayed here at short notice. The staff were more than helpful and very friendly. Although the hotel is now old and tired, it was very clean, obviously a lot of effort is put into room preparation.
We ate here more than once, unfortunately the food does leave a lot to be desired. Quantity does not make up for quality. We had the steak pie which was gloopy and pastry overdone. The veg was boiled until soggy and the color had bleached! Our breakfast on the other hand was quite good, not five star, but was a decent cooked breakfast. As we had a decent breakfast we tried a second visit to the bar meals, and had the Haddock and chips. This was a mistake. The chips had been kept hot so long that they had dried out and were solid. The fish was not much better, no moisture at all and almost rubbery.
To be fair there was a notice in the window looking for a cook, they definitely need one.
If the food had been better, then we could have said this was a very good value for money hotel.
Great as a B&B, but until they get a good cook/chef, try eating elsewhere.

Pleasant welcome at this AA 2 star Hotel. Close to station (no noise). Decor throughout, is dated but very clean. Only stayed one night as just passing through. Comprehensive choice of evening meal + specials. Huge portions. Nice firm bed. Back bedroom quiet. Good breakfast selection. Reasonable room rate. Would definitely stay again & recommend.

We stayed end of May for 2 nights. We were able to check in really early which was a bonus to us so we could walk about Lockerbie.
Our room was at the front of the hotel. Good in size, with en-suite but the toilet was a Sani flo one to which made a noise every time it was used as thats the way it operated.
The breakfasts were great and we did eat there for the evening meals. We found the food to be good and portions were on the generous side.
I know its an old hotel but to me it could do to be revamped. I thought the style/decor was out dated but we still enjoyed our stay there.
