My fiancé and I decided to go to TGI Fridays yesterday for some food. It was bank holiday yesterday so we expected it to be busy (not a problem at all as we both work in hospitality ourselves and understand service will take longer).
We arrive, are told there is a 25 minute wait to be seated so we are directed to the bar where we are told we can have a couple of drinks before we get our table. All good.
Nearly 15 minutes of sitting at the bar and we’ve still not even been acknowledged, another 10 minutes and the 2 bar staff have both made eye contact with us at least 4 times whilst we’re waiting to be served and just looked away/turned away each time, no smile, nothing. Another 10 mins after this when we’ve sat at the bar being blatantly ignored (even after saying hello ourselves) our table buzzer goes off, so I manage to grab the attention of the bar tender (finally) and ask him how we know which table we’ll be sat at, and he looks at us and rolls his eyes and very snottily says ‘well that means you go back over to the door to find out’ and then turned around and continued wiping the back bar.
No apology for the fact we’ve been sat for 30 mins+ with no acknowledgment or offer of drinks, just poor service. Like I said we are both hospitality workers ourselves, so know acknowledging/greeting a customer takes seconds to do, even if you can’t serve them right that second. Neither one of us was demanding service, or getting annoyed as they were busy, we were just a bit shocked at the extremely poor customer service, and as someone who hasn’t been to TGI’s before, after this experience we wouldn’t come back. There are plenty of other restaurants that will make you feel welcome and even just make sure you’re greeted when you arrive. We ended up deciding to leave and went to another restaurant where the service was amazing.

The restaurant was busy but service was quick with friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings with very hot and fresh food.
All in all very satisfied.

Staff were polite but not overly friendly seemed to be rushed off their feet. Food was not to my taste, spicy everything too many flavours going on. Burger was dry even with the cheese on. Onion rings were overcooked. Liked watching someone from the kitchen come out and make cups of tea right next to our table.

We usually choose this place when we feel like treating ourselves. We’re never disappointed the food is always at such high quality and the service is outstanding. No matter what you choose to eat it’s always perfectly cooked and at a very high quality. We always recommend this place to people who have never been :)
