“Inspiring and picturesque visit. ”

Path Head Water Mill
Reviewed August 3, 2016 via mobile

We were looking for an attraction close to where we were staying. Something that would fill a one to two hour slot. This place was ideal. Steeped in local history, very welcoming and picturesque. We were greeted and shown around. It was an interesting visit. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Suitable for young and old.

Local history re: water mill (which hubby loved). Still needs a lot of working doing on it and think it will take some time. There are plenty of ponds but did not see any wildlife, hopefully next visit. Parking limited so get there early. Staff friendly and informative.

Path Head Water Mill is worth a visit for many different reasons. For the historically minded it is a fascinating insight into the past. For the technologically minded it is expanding to show how water power it links between the past and our future energy provision. For the nature lover it is set in beautiful grounds and for the artist there is an islet in the water proving a variety of views that made me wish I could draw or paint. it really needs a dry day to appreciate wall this site has to offer.

My grandson and I (age diffference 65yrs)went for a day out together to this tranquil, industrial revival site. There was plenty to see and do even though at first sight the area was small (which suited granny!). There were flowers, rivers, industrial equipment, outdoor games, historical items of interest. It was a great day of learning experiences mixed with play fun which kept us occupied for many hours. Our own packed lunches could be eaten on site, in a cosy cafe if the weather was inclement. We both thoroughly enjoyed our day here in May, and would love to return again. The price was not excessive and parking was free.

Found this attraction on - line by accident. The working water mill is very interesting in itself but supplemented by additional features in the grounds that make for an interesting treasure hunt for the kids. Our 2 especially liked the map of the UK grown in grass and the hopscotch paving. We were there around 2 hours and saw everything.
Staff were friendly, helpful and willing to answer questions on the history, operation and restoration of the mill. The car park is free but small, probably a max of 10 cars.
