Description: First awarded a Michelin star in October 2016 & 4 rosettes by The AA in 2018, The Tudor Room is a richly decorated dining room, boasting silk lined walls and a dominant seventeenth century tapestry. With just 7 tables, The Tudor Room offers a series of tasting menus with intense flavours that change seasonally. It opens for lunch from 12 noon until 2pm on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from 7pm until 9.30pm Wednesday - Saturday. Head Chef Douglas Balish changes his menus according to the seasons and his food demonstrates his passion for simple cookery with intense flavours. Produce is hand selected to ensure the best products from the finest suppliers, many of whom we have long standing relationships with. The kitchen garden at Great Fosters also plays a major part in providing fresh, organic ingredients for the menu. Many of the vegetable & salad ingredients including aubergines, beetroot, lettuce, tomatoes, squash, onions, courgettes and fennel are picked daily from the estate.

Visited the Tudor Room for the first time with my wife in March 2018 for her birthday lunch. Verdict? Must go again soon. The food (flavours and presentation), pampering service, menus and wine advice, overall attention to detail and decor were perfect. Excellent value for money for a Michelin star restaurant. If you go you will not be disappointed. My only reservation in giving this restaurant such a glowing review is that it will probably make it harder for me to get a table next time.

My wife and I dined, with our two daughters and their husbands, on Friday Evening as the start of a weekend of Golden Wedding Celebrations. We are very lucky to live locally to Great Fosters and so have be many times before to both restaurants and for various other functions. As usual we were not disappointed.
Food incredible. Atmosphere Wonderful. Service impeccable. Staff absolutely lovely knowing exactly the right level for each table around the room. For us that meant some joking and lots of laughs, all at a very sensible level so as not to annoy other patrons. It all made for a Fabulous Evening.
Thank you Istvan, Duggie and your teams.
P.S. congratulations on the first M.Star. Long overdue. At last the inspectors have had the scales removed from their eyes. Surely the second one must follow soon.
We will be back again,( and again and again).

We notified the restaurant of our dietary requirements in advance (Pescatarian/Veggie) and upon arrival they presented us with a tailor made menu (Photo attached)

As we were the first table of the day; we were seated first in the bar area which had great views of the grounds. Canapes were served of which the highlight was a Betroot Macaroon which was mind blowing!

Pre Starter was 10/10 Kohlrabi with an Olive Oil Ice Cream

All of my dishes were much to my liking having dined in over a dozen Michelin Star establishments (Tudor Room is way up there with the likes of Gidleigh Park which has held a star longer and the setting is just as nice but closer to home)

The manager, sommelier and waiting staff are all a credit to the restaurant and were attentive and very knowledgeable. There was also no sense pertinaciousness about them which you sometimes find in fine dining.

A truly wonderful lunch worthy of every star and pound.

Will be visiting again.

Thank you to the team at Tudor Room! (Most thanks to the chef!!!)

The service, food and presentation was exemplary. Some of the courses were incredibly complex and interesting. We had a superb time.

One of the best meals and experiences we have had.

Just watch the 'strong' goats cheese Exactly as described and very high quality. Just a bit much after the rich meal.
