“Excellent Easter Breakfast”

The Pharmacy Bistro
Ranked #66 of 131 Restaurants in Newton Abbot
Description: The Pharmacy Bistro is probably the most unique restaurant in the area, set in a Grade II listed Victorian pharmacy in Queen Street, Newton Abbot. It is open from 9am serving breakfasts and alternatives such as steak and eggs following on with lunches, snacks and coffee until 4pm. From 6pm it reopens for the evening specialising in the finest hand cut 28 day dry matured grass-reared West Country Steaks, fish and shellfish and home-made dishes, and is set to become a favourite with locals for meeting and eating. We also cook an awesome Sunday Lunch from 12 till 4pm and have an inviable selection of wines. Sourcing good quality produce and serving it well is our Ethos. We remain focused on the dining and taste experience and create an ambiance worthy of a stylish London chop house surrounded by the mahogany pharmacy cabinets and a unique Italian mosaic tiled floor. You’re literally dining in a piece of living history – Enjoy.

We returned to sample the pharmacy English breakfast. One of the best I’ve had. Great service, and warm friendly atmosphere, and coffee that was hot!! (lukewarm coffee is one of my pet hates)
Well done guys.

From the minute we arrived we were blown away by the history of the building. The owners have done an amazing job of retaining the character and heritage of this landmark destination.

We decided on the fillet steak having been made aware that all of the beef is locally sourced. Both my rare and my wife's medium rare were cooked to perfection with lovely sides and garnishes. Great value considering the quality and local provenance.

We have already rebooked our anniversary meal in 2 weeks and can't wait to return to try the other dishes.

The owners have clearly taken as much care over the sourcing, quality and cooking of their ingredients as they have with their building!

A stand out business in an otherwise uninspiring high street.

This is a fab friendly busy little bistro. We had a very warm welcome and great service for our visit for an early dinner with friends. There was also a group in a few couples and a family so this place will suit all.

It’s located in an old pharmacy ( I know - the clues are there!) but it’s worth saying it’s fabulously quirky with all the original wooden fittings

They have a very focussed menu serving breakfast lunch and dinner

The dinner menus consist of steaks some other choices like sea bass etc but not running to pages they can’t possibly do well which is my pet hate. I had a steak cooked perfectly rare with fries all helped along with a great bottle of Sauvignon blanceveryone else enjoyed their meals all with clean plates!

Overall a big thumbs up for this quirky fun bistro great service even better food and we left very happy banking this place to return to
