“Our favorite B&B in Scotland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

We stayed in five B&B's during our visit to Scotland and Annfield Guest House was by far the best. Mac and Anja have created an enchanting and luxury guest house for travelers. The decor is stunning, the bedding was of the highest quality and everything was impeccably clean. Their dining room is huge and the breakfast was amazing - fresh tropical fruits and berries, yogurts, cereals and and cheeses to start and then a full delicious breakfast. Mac makes the perfect poached egg! The house is spacious and comfortable and ideally located in the middle of Callander. Be sure to walk up to the waterfall; it is a short and beautiful hike and the trail begins directly behind the Annfield. Thank you Ann and Mac!

We were a group of 8 on a cycling weekend. The rooms were of a high standard beautifully decorated, tea/coffee facilities, chocs and bottled water. The bikes went into the summer house. Breakfast was much better than most hotels or BBs. Extremely good. The owners were most friendly and helpful and relaxed. Very enjoyable stay.

What sets Mac and Anja's lovely guesthouse apart from others is their attention to detail. On arrival we were offered tea/coffee. After unpacking we went though to the lounge to find fresh coffee, a pot of tea and a selection of quality cakes and biscuits waiting for us.
The furniture throughout the guesthouse is of very good quality which gives a sense that the proprietors genuinely care about providing their guests with a memorable stay. These values are also echoed in the attentiveness of Mac and Anja; they seem to be there almost intuitively, though certainly not obtrusively.
The presentation of breakfast and the delicious full scottish were in keeping with the attention to detail evident in the rest of the guesthouse (the hint of whisky in the marmalade was ver nice).
The only complaint - and a minor one - is that the tog of the duvet seemed very heavy.

Thank you for taking the time to post your lovely review, your feedback is much appreciated. We were delighted that you enjoyed your overnight stay and it was a pleasure to have you as guests. It was also great that you noticed some of the little extras that made your stay memorable including the marmalade with a little taste of Scotland.
Our duvet in your particular room is a king size dual weight 100% Hungarian goose down which we use during the winter months this is made up of two duvets of 10 and 4 tog.We have now removed the 4 tog as we move slowly into spring, goose down duvets are lighter than their feather or synthetic counterparts.
We have during the last few weeks changed all of our sheets to high thread count Egyptian cotton these are heavier than percale or lower thread count cotton but are in our opinion worth it for their luxurious natural feel.
We hope to see you again in the future and I will make a note to make sure your duvet is a lower tog rating.

Annfield is a B. and B. that has all the extra little touches that make your holiday in the Trossachs memorable.

It is situated in an ideal spot, so that you can walk into the main strip of Callander and be a shopaholic to your heart's content.

Beautifully presented rooms, bathrooms and guest lounge, along with superb breakfasts with a wide range of options, make this the perfect place to stay and to tour one of the most scenic areas in Scotland.
There are also terrific walks all around Callandar and even remnants of Roman occupation.

We stayed there in October which is a superb time to see the trees in their autumn splendour.

The hosts Anya and Mac could not have been more obliging. Although the rates were B. and B. level, the overall experience was superior hotel quality.

I stayed here with colleagues on business to work on a project in the town for five days. I travel a lot, and have rarely been as delighted with the accommodation as I was here - it far outstripped most of the hotels I have stayed in for business or leisure.

From the welcome to the decor to the comfort levels to the food (and the much appreciated friendliness) this is a first class place to stay. Mac was very helpful in making arrangements in advance. Ania and Mac keep the place spotless and really, really looked after us, offering tasty and appetising breakfasts that varied each day, very welcome after long working hours. Conveniently located, quiet, warm, comfortable and most importantly for us, relaxing and welcoming.

You could come to Callander just for this experience, never mind the great outdoors or the town. I'm taking my partner next year.

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were beautiful. There are a couple with private, rather than ensuite, facilitie...

Our hosts Ania and Mac made us most welcome and treated us almost as part of the family. Our room was delightful and ready access to the guest lounge made our stay very comfortable. The guest house is maintained to a very high standard and is conveniently located to the town. Breakfast was most enjoyable and served quickly and with a smile. Would certainly return here.
