We booked for 3 nights on a friend’s high recommendation and it was everything they said and more so. Greeted with afternoon tea in the garden, followed by a tour of the public rooms and then an introduction to our room. Light and airy with a view of the delightful country garden and everything spick and span, but homely. Attention to detail to ensure our comfort and relaxation. The great boon was a small fridge on the landing where you could help yourself to fresh milk for the courtesy tray in your room. No little cartons of UHT milk! Breakfasts were great, with a bowl of fresh fruit and fruit salad plus cereals before you started on your fry up. Jan and Liz are excellent hostesses, who endeavour to meet your needs, even if they deviate from the norm. Nothing is too much trouble and they kindly got some photocopying done for us in Bude. Plenty of parking space, which is at a premium in Stratton. We cannot speak more highly of Stratton Gardens and it is the best B & B we have ever experienced. Thank you Jan & Liz for making our stay so memorable.

My wife and I were on a loosely-planned "let's have a look at Cornwall" trip and were referred to Stratton Gardens Guest House by chance. We initially booked for two nights but found it so relaxing we ended up staying for four. I checked the other reviews before I wrote this and can really only add my praises to the rest. Jan and Liz have obviously thought a lot about what they want for their guests and it shows, from the welcoming tea in the garden to the genuinely fast wifi connection. A pleasant experience all round!

This was a real find - we were on the last leg of our 3 month trip in Europe and UK and were a little bit over it! Imagine our delight to be greeted with tea on the terrace, a glorious spacious room with a fresh modern bathroom, sun streaming in the open window and fresh flowers on the window seat! We were spoilt with tasty local produce at breakfast, assisted with where to go and what to do and even driven down to Bude on the first day to help us get our directions - nothing was too much trouble. We have recommended Stratton Gardens to our best friends in London and also highly recommend it to any other travellers in the area - it was a lovely peaceful place to stay.

We stayed at Stratton Gardens for two nights to attend a friends wedding. From the moment we arrived our hosts,Jan and Liz, could not have made us feel more welcome. We were offered tea and cake to take in the beautiful garden. The guest house had been renovated to an excellent standard, our room was very tastefully decorated, lovely big modern wooden bed with the most comfortable pillows.

Breakfast offered a very high standard of choices, i had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, delicious! We felt so welcome, our hosts were always available and nothing was too much to ask for.

I would definitely recommend a visit here if you are looking for a quiet retreat with a personal touch in beautiful surroundings, worth every penny.

Everything was just great.. A friendly welcome on our arrival and our room was extremely comfortable.
My wife & I have been visiting Bude/Stratton for fifty years now and this has been the best accomodation to date, with breakfast being just a bit more than a treat to look forward to each morning. I can still taste the locally sourced sausages & fresh eggs!
The location of the guest house is set within the old and peaceful village of Stratton, which is only a five minute drive from Bude Town Centre or from the scenic coastal road which takes you to Boscastle & Padstow one way, Clovelly & Barnstable the other direction. If you play golf as we have in the past, Bude has a challenging 18 hole course as does Holsworthy ( close to Stratton ) Launceston, Bowood & Landhrock.
Jan & Liz have worked hard to achieve a truly first class holiday retreat and we will definately be back for lots more of this. A big thank you to you both. Tony & Chris

My partner and I spent three nights here at the start of our trip to Cornwall. We couldn't have asked for a better start. Jan and Liz made us feel incredibly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The guest house itself is delightful - not a straight line in sight with a wonderful terraced garden perfect for a quiet read after a long walk. The bedroom was spacious and bright with just about every home comfort you could ask for, and recently refurbished to a high standard with a great ensuite. Stratton itself is a beautiful old town with small winding streets and plenty of character. Wonderfully quiet at night - you can hear the sea in the distance, from Bude, only minutes away. The breakfasts were delicious with a varied menu of locally sourced produce. Jan and Liz will give you pointers for good places to eat locally and thanks to their recommendation we had our best meal in Cornwall, at Life's A Beach. An added bonus for us that it's gay friendly enabling us to feel just that bit more relaxed. We shall definitely be back as soon as we can get down to Cornwall again and have already started spreading the word.

Great hospitality, the room was lovely and bright overlooking the garden. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice and the home made bread was wonderful. Jan and Liz make you very welcome. We recommend Stratton Gardens as a base to explore North Devon and Cornwall.
