We visited The Filly Inn a few days ago and had a lovely meal. We were all pretty hungry from a day of walking so we all opted for the burgers and my daughter the fish and chips. The burgers were delicious, we especially loved the cheesy pour on sauce. The children’s portion was of a good size too. Would most definitely recommend the dirty fries.. yummy!! We will be returning in the future!

Thank Sarah L

We stopped here over Easter weekend. Andrew and his staff could no be more accommodating and we were seduced by the wonderful aroma of the food as we walked through the door! In short, the food is delicious with a fantastic choice of old favourites wit with an upmarket twist and the prices were great. The house red was delicious. Staff friendly helpful and welcoming and the whole atmosphere of this place is warm and welcoming. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!!

We visited The Filly Inn for dinner whilst we were down in the New Forest for a couple of days.

As with many gastro pubs we were shown to our table and received a warm welcome. We decided to skip starters and went straight to mains and ordered Fish + Chips and the Ham, Egg and Chips dishes. They arrived beautifully cooked and were thoroughly delicious. The Ham was unusually presented in a pulled pork style which made an interesting change to the norm.

We were both too full for desert and left very contented.

The service was very good. Attentive but not overly so.

Would we recommend = Yes
Would we revisit = Yes if we had the time

We have just stayed here for a weekend away on my birthday. I can't fault anything. Our room was clean with a comfortable bed and a beautiful view across Setley Plain. Breakfast in the morning was ample with delicious local sausages.
The staff are friendly and efficient and the pub has a very good atmosphere with a couple of well kept local real ales.
We each had four meals here and each was amazing, probably the best cottage pie I have tasted and for Sunday lunch, roast beef that melts in your mouth.
We will definitely come back here again.

As two of our party of four wanted vegetarian, we chose the Filly as it offered a good range of vegetarian options.
It must of been one of those nights. Two of us ordered chicken wing starters. It took a good 10 minutes before telling us that it was not available. We chose our main meal based on having starters. We all ordered the sausage cassoulet. Two vegetarian sausage options and two non-vegetarian. The vegetarian meals were fine for the ladies. The non vegetarian came with 3 thin sausages and chopped veg, covered in a sauce. The meal was fine but lacked something. We were sure the menu stated it came with mashed potatoe. As we did not have the menu on hand and the waiter/barman looked very busy, we decided to eat up, pay and leave. To be honest My friend and I just felt we needed something else as we did not feel contented. We could of had a desert but that was long time coming, hence leaving. It wasnt until the next day that we checked the menu on line again. That's when we saw that all four meals should of come with mashed potatoe. So not only did we get reduced portions we paid for the full version. I can only say we were all dissapointed and will not be going again. If anyone decides to eat at the Filly then suggest you check what the menu is offereing and not take it for granted.
