Called in here without booking and staff were very accommodating and found us a table for 7 people. Drinks orders were taken quickly and the food orders soon after. Nice selection on the menu and most dishes were as described and quite tasty however a few items let’s the dishes down, potato cakes and bubble and squeak were lacking flavour. Service also got slower towards the end of the evening and we had to go looking for a waitress. Overall generally nice but could have been better.

Visited this inn for a meal on two o occassions whilst on holiday in Devon. On both occassions found the staff very friendly and helpful. On first visit I asked for a pint of Tribute Ale which was excellent and the barmaid jokily said that I'd come all the way to Devon to drink a Cornish beer. As for the food I had the pork chop and my wife the lamb - both meals were well presented and very tasty - couldn't fault it and the same applies to pir second visit when we both had fish and chips. Would recommend this inn very highly

Pulled in spontaneously on a busy Sunday - 8 of us plus 4 children under 3 and a dog - assumed we wouldn't be able to stay to eat but amazingly there was a free function room that they allowed us to use! Really suitable considering our young members! Food was incredible (fish and chips the highlight). Extremely helpful young staff members fetching drinks, sauces, etc. Only negative is the carpet could have done with a Hoover - but who can blame them when we weren't expected. Thanks so Much!

We booked at very short notice and the staff were great in respect of juggling rooms so that we could stay for two nights. The bar/restaurant food was absolutely excellent - the best we tasted in our week in Devon! You would be well advised to book a table. There is a substantial carpark and good wifi. The bathroom was great as it had recently been refurbished. The corridor of the bedroom annex and the bedroom itself could really do with a substantial makeover as they were originally constructed and decorated in a sort of olde worlde caricature manner with cast iron handles and studs in the doors which looks a bit naff in this day and age! The good thing about the bedroom annex though is that it is at the back of the pub and therefore nice and quiet with no road noise. The only thang that we really didn't like was the number of large dogs in the place - both belonging to diners and residents alike - and some out of control. This would put us off from returning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back for quietness

This pub seemed very inviting whilst driving down a country lane in the dark and feeling somewhat peckish. Couldn't decide what local ale to try when, without asking, the barmaid poured me no less than 3 samples! Me and my wife both ordered the chicken breast in tarragon and white wine sauce. It was simply delicious. Would definitely recommend this pub.
