Linda and David have just provided us with two weeks of wonderful comfort and relaxation and were excellent hosts, always on hand with ideas and information for where to go and what to do.
Bamboo Cottage is compact but has everything that a couple need. It is very clean, comfortable, has a great bed, WiFi and Sky TV and even bath robes and flip flops to wear when using the hot tub in the garden. The Welcome hamper was very well received after our journey and included home-made bread, eggs from Linda and David’s chickens, cheese and wine. The garden is a real treat with plenty of shady and sunny areas for eating and relaxing and star gazing under the dark skies.
Quistinic is the nearest village, a short walk along a wooded footpath. The village restaurant/bar is basic but good value and the tea salon is superb. There are supermarkets within easy reach and a visit to the Crêperie Au Coin Tranquille at St Tugdal is a must.
The area is packed with walks around local villages and the beautiful River Blavet has a well surfaced towpath providing easy walking or cycling with some nice little cafes and bars. For more enthusiastic cyclists the local quiet roads have enough hills to be interesting but plenty of space.
We visited Port Aven which is packed with artist and galleries, mediaeval Josselyn and Pontivy. Nearby are the sandy beaches of the Gulf of Morbihan and the cottage is a great base if you want to visit the Festival Interceltique at Lorient (which is a great 10 day music festival in August for anyone who loves celtic culture).
Linda and David made sure that our whole visit went smoothly and went out of their way to ensure that our holiday was memorable – they even took us on a bat watching evening, which was great fun.
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending any of Linda and David’s cottages to anyone and we hope to be back one day.
This was the second time we had stayed in one of the owners' three cottages in Nevedic in recent years and so we knew what to expect. What we expected, and enjoyed thoroughly, was a sublimely peaceful environment, well-equipped cottage (run by friendly and helpful owners, Linda and David) and easy access to a wide range of different places of interest. We walked down from the cottage to the River Blavet a number of times; this is a beautiful walk through a well-marked forest track and the toe path along the River in both directions is lovely. We took a day trip from Quiberon (about a 45 minute drive away) on the ferry to Ile de Hoedic and it was the best day of the holiday. We had arranged ferry and parking tickets in advance (on advice from the relevant websites) and it all worked perfectly. The beauty of a holiday in these cottages is that even just staying in the locale, perhaps wandering along to the nearby baker for fresh bread and cakes, can make for a lovely relaxing day...or days. Thoroughly recommended.
