Owner description: A green venture working towards an eco friendly way of living with organic, local and green thinking at the heart of everything we do. Bread and pizzas are made daily in our wood fired oven, and we serve simple rustic dishes made with local, organic and seasonal ingredients, all cooked fresh to order using traditional cooking methods. Supporting local producers the farmshop has a traditional butchers counter, delicatessen, bakery and general store with organic fruit, veg, wines, beers and baby products. All of our bread, cakes, patisserie and even chocolates are organic and are hand made in our own kitchens.

Nice food, good selection, but a little bit on the pricey side.

we went here for a late lunch, and were very impressed with the wide selection of vegetarian choice and the consideration taken for people who require a gluten free diet, we had an absolutely fabulous pizza and the kids loved the very generously sized milkshakes! i feel it was good value for money as the prices are comparable with other farmshops that are not organic. will be back.

I went with a group for Sunday lunch and the roast dinner tasted wonderful. Also it was so refreshing to be able to eat free range pork as most places don't sell it. The sticky toffee pudding was very good too. Staff were absolutely fine. The prices in the organic butchers were very reasonable. I wish I lived closer as I fancy one of those milkshakes that come in the milk bottle. It's a great building with lovely views of rolling hills.

We were impressed by Cross Lanes. The building itself is adventurous and distinctive. The light meal we had was very good indeed. They have a pizza oven, which we'll try next time we're back.
Unlike a couple of earlier reviewers we found the service (by predominantly young staff) very good - pleasant and efficient.
We bought a couple of take-away pork pies which were really nice. Prices are very reasonable, considering that everything is organic. There are still a couple of rough edges (it's only two months since it opened) otherwise I'd have given it 5*. I suspect by the summer these will have been worked out and it will be giving Mainsgill Farm (7 miles to the East) a real run for its money.
Recommended.

Our Xmas roast was a 17lb full rib of beef from cross lane butchers, it was absolutely brilliant. We have also eaten in the restaurant, all I can say is it ought to cost more. Definitely one to recommend.
