We arrived early one evening for dinner.

We were greeted by somebody who I imagine was the manager/ owner. She was friendly and attentive.

Our drinks arrived quickly, and our order was taken quickly too.

The food was quick to arrive, and was in most part hot, fresh and tasty. My beef curry was listed as mild, which was an under statement. It lacked any flavour whatsoever. My starter of sweet potato croquettes on halloumi was delicious.

The beer was excellent. The bill reasonable.

Nice pub off the beaten track on the outskirts of Weymouth. Lots of choice on the menu to satisfy most peoples' choices. Very friendly service from efficient staff. The food was well prepared and presented and was extremely tasty. They also have an extensive wine list to select from. All in all a very pleasant evening meal.

All great news for an independent family run ‘locals’ generous & well prepared Sunday Carvery. Good service & lovely bustling atmosphere in a surprising location

Only challenge is when to book your table - the earlier time the better ( between 12 & 12.30 perhaps !? ) - but if like us people have to travel in different directions to meet up then the next time slot is 2.30/2.45pm ..... which is no problem if you get to go to the carvery within a reasonable time - the team control the flow of tables so depending on your tables order placement in the queue you could wait up to an hour !! - an easy way to get drunk ? ; but not so easy when you have 4 young children in your party.
Just a warning though as it might be an issue - we managed & will still return.

Overall ; a must try good value Sunday lunch venue located on the easily accessible north east rd into outskirts of Weymouth. Booking as far in advance as possible is highly advisable

Ps - Dogs welcome in bar areas with plenty of parking too

Enjoy

After placing a reservation for a party of 8, 3 weeks before actually visiting the Springhead, they were advised that one of our party was vegan. They said that wasn’t a problem and that something would be prepared for her. On arrival we made the waitress aware of our request and she went to the kitchen to find out what was available. She returned to announce that there was a vegetarian option available. Obviously this was not suitable as it contained dairy products. She ended up with a portion of plain vegetables and two small roast potatoes. This barely covered half of the plate. To top it all, she was charged the full price of £12.95 despite not having anything available for a vegan. Upon complaining to the waitress, who spoke to the manager she was told “too bad, that’s the price”. When you consider that with 3 weeks notice to make 1 meal, that is poor. This was our first and last time that we will be visiting.
