“Grooming lovely!”
Reviewed April 27, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Easy to find, but off the beaten track. This compact but cosy cottage provides a true taste of rural Dorset. Well equipped and cosy with a wonderfully comfortable king sized bed. If you're over 6 foot tall, you will need to remember to duck, or bring a hard hat! The low doorways and sloping ceilings could be an issue. But any such contortions are well rewarded and the friendly and cheerful owner is on hand for help and advice. Wildlife abounds with sheep, pheasants and a myriad of birds as well as deer. We had a truly relaxing and enjoyable break. Easy to book. Well equipped with toilet rolls, soap, etc. the fresh flowers were a delight and a thoughtful pint of milk in the fridge on arrival was welcome too. The proximity to the excellent local pub - the elm tree inn- was welcome and within staggering distance. Serving fantastic food, beers and ciders. Easy access to swanage, Wimborne, chesil, Portland, bridport and charmouth - even Lyme Regis.
The only negative was the temperamental wi-fi due to the thickness of the stone walls.

“Beautiful secluded getaway”

We stayed at Groom's Cottage for three nights in mid-April 2015. It is as charming as it looks in the photographs, and the sheep are very friendly.

Hilary met us on arrival and explained the cottage and its history, and we then spent a couple of hours sitting in the courtyard watching the birdlife and the sheep - what more could you want?

The cottage made a great base from which to explore the Jurassic Coast - it's only a stone's throw from the coastal path - we explored the Fleet, visited Abbotsbury swan sanctuary, the sub-tropical gardens, and drove round to "Broadchurch".

The Elm Tree Inn, five minutes' walk across the road at Langton Herring has good food, and lots of "smuggler" history - the fish and chips were good, and there's a wide range of beer and cider.

But the highlight of our stay was Grooms Cottage, as we had intended a peaceful getaway, and it provided everything that we wanted.

Highly recommended!

We have just spent three nights here with a 7 month old baby, the cottage was absolutely perfect for us, It is well equipped with everything you need, fantastic kitchen with all the essentials, the Bedroom upstairs has ample room for two adults and a baby, with cot supplied. Everything is clean and tidy. the location is perfect for getting out and about in the local area, and the beach is just a short walk away. with plenty to see and do. or if not you can spend time watching the wildlife just sitting in the garden. Hilary the owner was a perfect host and welcomed us very warmly and we look forward to returning very soon.

“A beautiful retreat”
Reviewed March 1, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

It took me a while to find this little gem of a cottage and in so glad I did. Nestled away of the beaten track this lovely little cottage is an ideal getaway! Hillary was very friendly and accommodating. It's in an ideal location, hidden away in a small village a stones throw from the coast amd walking distance to the nearest pub. Theme for shipping are only a small drive away. Can't recommend this place enough I loved it. We would love to go back!

“Lovely Time”
Reviewed November 25, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

I have to say the cottage was not at all as the previous comment suggests. We found the cottage in immaculate condition and very clean. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful and looking out across the courtyard to see the animals is lovely.
The cottage its self is very well equipped and the owner even went out of her way to make sure there was milk in the fridge upon our arrival and plenty of logs to make sure we had a cozy fire in the evenings.
Although the cottage is designed to sleep two it is deceptively spacious inside ensuring your holiday or short break will be a memorable one. I would not hesitate to recommend this as a great holiday destination.
