We normally want 5 star accomodation for big holidays but this was ideal or what we wanted a DOG WALKING holiday! My husband & I stayed here for 1 night along with our 2 dogs, and it was perfect! Cheap accommodation, large family room with 1 double bed 2 singles, very clean bathroom and excellent service especially by Monica.
They accommodated us everywhere with the dogs and even let then sit with us at breakfast . 2 extra sausages were given to us ( for the dogs)
Perfect loation
Clean
Cheap
And very homely

We will defiantly be back

It was our first time staying in the Lakes and we are very particular when staying away. We looked at lots of places and settled on Lonsdale House after much deliberation and we were not disappointed. What a fantastic find!

We received a very warm welcome and were amongst the first guests to stay in the newly refurbished rooms (My wife was so impressed she got the name of the Mulberry wall paper!). The new bed was incredibly comfortable and we did not want to leave it in the morning. Everywhere was impeccably clean and the slight smell of fresh paint in the bar made it all feel brand new.

The breakfast was excellent - I am an expert of cooked breakfasts working away from home a lot and this one was second to none. The staff were friendly and warm and could not do enough for you. All in all a perfect stay and we will definitely be back and recommend to all. Well done Andrew and team and thank you for making our holiday :)

Room Tip: The Four Poster Room is amazing.

Sadly our stay at the Lonsdale was not one we shall be repeating. The worst problem was the beds. Our room was number six and the bed was so lumpy and the mattress was paper thin. The room is on the main road and very noisy.

The bathroom taps wobble badly and loo is hard to flush. The room was however very clean. The temperature of the hotel was far to hot and the landing thermostats were all set to 30 degrees celcius!

The breakfast was good. It was cooked well and the staff were helpful and friendly. However breakfast was only served between 8.30-9.30am. This I feel is not really accommodating guests needs as many would like an earlier start as people want to get out and enjoy the Lake District.

The bar area is absolutely awful! It smells odd and is really dark. The decoration can only be described as naf. The worst part is you can only stay in the bar area till 10pm.

The Londsdale is not a hotel it is a B and B. It is expensive for what it is and does not offer good hotel service.

Stayed here with husband and two teenages was given the family room top floor lots of stairs.nice view of the lake. The room had double bed and two folding beds.Bathroom was on the small side but did the job,it was clean and bright it had tv with DVD kettle tea bags coffee biscuits which were replaced each day,You can choose a DVD from reception free as many as you want mostly older ones but nice touch, Breakfast was the usual full English you could also have cereals yogurts juice etc waiting on staff were very polite and pleasant.Breakfast could of been a little hotter though, Had a nice little lounge area with bar perfect for a night cap only bottle beers. The location of the hotel is perfect for Bowness only a short walk some body mentioned the hotel was on busy road and no foot path that is correct but we had no problem walking on it , How ever if you leave the hotel from the rear this cuts out the need to walk on the road so not a problem what so ever.Parking is a little tight room for three cars at the front and five at the back you can get blocked in though. I liked this hotel it was very welcoming had a warm feeling about it I was very impressed with Andrew the manager such a nice guy could teach the staff of other expensive hotels we've stayed in a thing or two very much a people person and for that reason wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Lonsdale House overnight for my birthday treat.
I was unaware it had been booked, but was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality.
Room 6 has a 4 poster, and overlooks the front of the hotel. There are good in-room facilities, and the hotel serves an excellent breakfast.
Parking is available on site and the location, close to the cinema makes it a very convenient for all Bowness' attractions.
I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending this, value for money hotel.

Andrew on reception is a genuinely nice guy and after enquiring about vacancies decided this was the place for us. He put a smile on Mrs Perrones face.

Good room and hotel is convenient for Bowness town centre.

Definitely recommend.
