This cafe is situated in a great spot with superb views of the Estuary. I went for tea and cakes but they do lunch and are hoping to start dinners. The Victoria Sponge was an excellent, true tasty and not overloaded with jam etc just nicely balanced. They have a good array of gluten free cakes too with chocolate bar options also. The view is the great addition. I loved it chiefly for it is great array of sensibly sized, beautifully cooked cakes. The have a great lunch time menu, which agains shows to me they have a good sense of quality - they have not over stretched themselves and offer a nice selection of panini, breakfast options, burgers and pizzas but I have tried them but hopefully that they will be well cooked and of quality. The team there are really keen to reach out to their customers. Seating is basic with wooden trestle style tables and a nice outside seating area. The cake itself suffers from the 'echo' effect of plain floor and no furnishings to dampen the noise (especially if you get two dogs barking!!) But I am sure they will sort that out. This is definitely a place to support and I shall certainly be back for a return visit soon. You can also reach this cafe from the Barnstaple to Braunton road - poorly signposted though so look out it is clearly on the estuary side of the road (left when heading to Braunton).

On first impression this place looked like a hidden gem amongst an Industrial estate with lovely views of the estuary. Lovely building, lovely decor, lovely menu. However, there is a distinct lack of atmosphere or warmth. We said hello upon entering and was ignored by all three members of staff stood behind their counter, not the best start. It's self service, which is understandable if they are lacking in staff and it's busy, however on this occasion it really wasn't busy and there seemed to be an excess of staff not appearing to do anything. We had an issue with our order in that we had ordered "blunch" presuming this is breakfast-lunch at mid morning but was told they weren't doing this yet? Nothing on the menu to suggest a serve from time. Surely these rules can't be bent if a customer is requesting from a menu that suggests it is breakfast-lunch at 10:45?

The food was lovely, pancake stack was massive and the coffee was divine.

But the staff and lack of warmth or hospitality really let this place down. Such a shame.

Rode past this place on a bank holiday Monday. Wouldn't have noticed it, but some tempting looking signs captured my attention. Thought that looks nice, we'll stop on the way back rather than in Braunton. On the way back we did indeed stop to find the place closed. Hospitality business closed on a August bank holiday... Not impressed, at least take your signs in.

I just popped in for a coffee towards the end of the afternoon whilst on the walk from Braunton to Barnstable . Beautifully located overlooking the estuary this nice looking tea shop is on the edge of an industrial park . Service was friendly and the cappecino ok but I was not impressed when they started preparing for shutting around customers at 4.30 or so
