We stumbled across this delightful cafe while wandering the streets of Barnstaple, and can't speak highly enough of the service, the cakes and, (even though tea is its focus), the coffee. We returned the next day, and though the staff had changed, the service had not. Would highly recommend.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great cream tea and cuppa. What more could you want? Stumbled across this little gem in a Barnstaple side street. Now we know where it is we will visit again.

I am a strong believer that a simple menu, made with good quality ingredients, and presented in an uncomplicated way will always beat out any other competition. The Cream Tea Cafe is a shining example of classic food with ingredients that all play off each other.

I visited while passing in Barnstaple with my girlfriend for a cream tea, of which we had many while travelling around Devon. I can confidently say this was the best. Both of the ladies working that day were kind and helpful while not being intrusive. The decor is excellent, very much what you would expect if someone asked you to think of a Cafe, and the atmosphere is very calming right down to the music.

It’s nice to find a cafe where the drinks are treated with the same care as the food, and while the scones were delicious, as was there unique jam and very fresh clotted cream, my tea was exactly how a cup of tea should be served. Fine bone china cups, a thick tea pot with real tea leaves, and all the accompaniments.

An absolute treat, I only wish I lived closer so I could pop in more often.

Cosy little café, very friendly owners who cook everything on the premises to order. cakes to die for! a bit cramped for buggies and wheelchairs. No steps though. Closed Mondays.
