Impressed by the pool and changing rooms, nice, clean room let down a little by the restaurant which was nothing special in comparison. Probably wouldn't want to pay rack rate but would go back if there was a deal in place.

recently styed in this hotel, friendly staff, decent food etc. all ok but don't go here if you want to use the swimming pool. Its very small, you can't swim properly and there is no time restriction for children. I was there when someone cam einto the pool at almost 7.oopm with a small baby. Needless to say I got out!!. What should have been a relaxing experience became irritating due to too many people in the pool. This is the only downside, and as everyhone else says... the industrial estate. Also theres a fish factory behind the hotel so it can get a bit smelly.....if you don't like the smell of fish at least youve been advised.

I stayed here in mid March on my way to a job interview. My first impression of the hotel was that it was not a classic looker from the outside. Boxy, and next to an Industrial estate. I didnt find the reception easy, but when I did find it, the staff were very helpful and friendly. No bookings were required for dinner that evening and I was not disappointed. My three course meal was amazing, far in excess of what I was expecting. The wine and service was really good too. My bedroom was pretty much "standard fayre", but clean, tidy and nothing to gripe about. Breakfast was as good as the Dinner, with a chef standing by at all times to personally cook your egg to your liking. I've been to more expensive hotels in big cities and never had this sort of personal treatment! Checking out was very easy with reception staff sorting me a taxi for my onward journey. To conclude - I would love to return here as its a bit of a gem!

Room Tip: My room was facing a drive in Burger bar - it might be noisy in high season so best avoid.

We stayed 8/9 March 2012 and absolutely loved it!! Upon arrival (and we were earlier than expected), we were told that our room was ready. After a long journey, it was welcome news that we could unpack and down tools!! Really friendly and happy staff made us feel very welcome . The Hotel itself felt more like a four star than a three. Really enjoyed our stay. Evening meal was gorgeous and the brekkie, well ....I would like to say that we didn't over indulge.......however, we did!! We will be returning this Summer for sure!!

i stayed recently for 4 nights with my partner on their march half board deals.we decided after reading reviews on hee to upgrade to a superior room type for £20 per night.we was glad we did this as the pool rooms were unsuitable and the rear rooms with the industrial site wasnt apealling. The hotel itself is a 3* and the layout is still evident of its motel days unfortunately. The room we had was pleasant and asking for a quiet room was rewarded with a hike to the end of the corridor, but room was okay.
The hotel is comfortable and the leisure facilities very good to help lose a couple of hours in the afternoons.
The hotel caters for business clients and holiday makers are not paramount here(why holiday in Barnstable anyway?),so are not overwelmed by pensioners or coach parties which is perfect.
The food was okay, the breakfast beaing a buffet style cannot be falted and with so much choice leaves you full every morning.
The evenning meals were a little different.the menu apart from a starter, soup and one sweet stayed the same all week.but there was to be fair a good enough choice if staying for a few days.my only gripe was the food was a little bland, and didnt deliver what was said on the menu.If it said spicy or ina particular sauce im afraid the chefs played safe and it was served very plain. If it says moroccon spiced then lets have it!!
The service was good and generally most of the staff greeted us with smiles.Except the 2 Eastern europeans in the restaurant with faces as stern as ever.we were scared to ask them anything and their bodylanguage sent out a uninterested message to all diners.
The bar area was okay but sometimes felt we were in the way for the "regulars" who used the hotel, and this was funny as I denied staying there and drank my own alcohol in my room,so their loss.
Being a good walk from the nearest pub(why want to go into Barnstable anyway?),it was best to eat later and stay within the hotel bar area.
i would recommend the hotel if visiting the area but not for a "god forbid" holiday here.a short break for a few days is enough and costs enough(cheaper to go abroad!!!)
Would maybe return here but having visited all the areas sites(nearest beach is 10miles) a four day break is well enough, before being bored.

Room Tip: choose a superior room or road facing(not exotic) room to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Very pleased with this hotel. Immaculate room, very helpful staff. Arrived late at night and was very impressed with the service I received and the rate! Buffet breakfast was very nice. This is more of a business hotel and is located some 10-15 minutes walk from Barnstaple Town Centre. Free Wi-Fi which was an additional bonus. Would most definitely recommend. Lots of TV channels as well.

A group of 30 friends stayed here, cant complain about the rooms but our room looked out onto a factory which worked all weekend starting early in the morning even 7am on a Sunday, the food was lovely on the evening we arrived a little bit slow but we didnt mind as we were chatting, the breakfasts were very good I found the bar drinks expensive, would stay there again but bring own drinks

Room Tip: try to book a front room
