Description: At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don’t do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. We’re all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Durham is rich with history and we wanted to make sure we captured that in our restaurant. Durham Zizzi’s design pays homage to the beautiful cathedral with painted glass frames - a modern interpretation of the cathedral's stained glass wrapped around the staircase. LED rods illuminating the roof, wooden wall paneling, and grand chandeliers (both old and modern) make sure the building achieves the trickiest of tricky tasks of being both historical and cutting edge. If you’re celebrating something special, see if our private dining area is right for you.And tweet what you eat with WiFi available here (if you’re in to that).

We always like coming to this restaurant because the food never disappoints. Can recommend the garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelised onions, it’s one of the best dishes we’ve had.

Been to Zizzi’s many times before and always thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt this evening they were particularly understaffed and there was noticeable gaps between taking orders, taking dirty plates away etc. We were sat right next to the open kitchen which I didn’t mind too much to be honest until I could hear a waitress and waiter by the kitchen chatting and talking rudely about a couple she had been attending to that evening. Come on, slightly unprofessional in front of other customers dont you think?

Just had the coppa funghi at Zizzis in Durham along with the St Clair sauvignon blanc.... delicious! The pizza had a soft boiled egg, mushrooms, ham and pea shoots. We are regulars there because we always have a great meal and the food tastes fresh and there’s plenty of it. The restaurant is cosy and clean and the staff are brilliant. Many of the staff have been there for years and they have always bent over backwards to be helpful and friendly. Our daughter had a party there tonight and she and her group sat together whilst we sat across the room. The staff sorted everything so we had a nice chill. Can’t recommend enough.

I and 3 friends went to Zizzi's to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was served promptly and was hot and very tasty. The food is not overpriced at all and was very tasty. We look forward to our next visit.

First time visiting the Durham branch & it won’t be the last.
Calamari great & pulled pork pizza thing just as nice.
Special credit needs to go to the guy on front of house/on drinks/serving/etc. for helping making the visit memorable, despite this guy, myself & partner struggling to open cocktail mixer, resulting in drink going over my partner, he deserves a pat in the back. Very apologetic & we were compensated, which we didn’t mind if not as a great character creating great memories
