Never mind the soaring architecture and the millennia of history, what my kids and I will certainly always remember was the very friendly staff and volunteers. Kids will love the little backpacks full of fun activities almost as much as they will love to know about the various scenes from Harry Potter that were filmed in the cathedral. The staff here are not only knowledgeable but extremely approachable and friendly. I love the “Listeners” idea and took full advantage while my boys were sitting on the cathedral floor putting together their puzzles. It was a truly unique experience.

This setting is completely surreal for a hotel and offers a unique experience to say the least! The rooms are well maintained but the setting is clearly the main attraction! The outside courtyard is stunning and the old castle is an incredible sight. The breakfast in the morning is served in the Great Hall and is a quite remarkable setting! The staff are very friendly also! The castle is close to the main part of town, being on the hill, it is just a 5 minute walk from most of the shops and stores.

Never having stayed in a castle before I wasn’t sure what to expect. Shouldn’t have been concerned. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast (full English) if desired was superb. Taking breakfast in the great hall was novel.
The one downside would be the number of steps require or each the room.
Also like others the GPS doesn’t seem to recognize the castle. You may need to ask directions
