I won't be able to say enough good things about this hotel. Great location on the Promenade, a five minute walk from the ferry and all the downtown area. Beautifully restored character building with all the luxuries and personal touches one could ask for. A great price for all the amenities you receive. The desk is not manned 24 hrs. There is a very efficient woman who is at the desk during the day and a phone # to call after hours. A smart keypad secure entry system, no keys or cards to drag around with you, soft (perhaps 500 count) sheets, free wifi, fully stocked modern kitchen, mini- bar items if you chose, lots of hot water in a huge shower, soaps, creams, heated towel rack with thick towels, housecoats, slippers, tons of hangers, a personal safe, umbrellas, books, magazines, etc etc.
Easy to treat yourself at a super price!

As a person who travels all over the World using the finest hotels, I feel this gem needs highlighting to all would travellers to IOM.

To be more precise, The Town House and it's sister establishment Gloucester House, are lovely apartment style accommodation, with all the facilities needed by visiting business people, romantic couples and families alike.

I was truly impressed with the attitude of the all involved from the cleaner to the manager to the owner.

A great touch was a local SURE PAYG mobile, which avoided large additional charges as IOM is classed as overseas to UK networks, even though the mobile numbers are no different... I think they all begin 07624... (STD is 01624 ... )

I highly recommend you stay here when on the IOM.

I am hesitant to review The Town House, because it will just make it that much more difficult to book a room there. The rooms are big, beds comfortable, and location convenient. Having stayed at a number of the other hotels in Douglas, I find The Town House to be the best by far.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms on the 1st and 3rd floors. The 2nd floor is noisy for some reason.

My wife and 4 year old daughter have just had a lovely stay at The Town House.
It's ideally located on the front at Douglas, within easy reach of the local shops and amenities, and all public transport services.
The apartment we had was furnished to an excellent standard, with lovely, comfy beds, a plasma tv mounted on the wall, a dvd player, free wi-fi access, a well equipped kitchen (with a nice welcome pack of bread, milk & cereals provided), and a spacious shower room and toilet. It was spotlessly clean, and a very comfortable place to stay.
The thing we really liked about The Town House is that you can come and go as you please, and have your meals in your room as and when you want. This was ideal for us, and we found it to be perfect for our needs.
The only slight downside is that the seagulls can get a bit noisy. Such is life, there's not a lot you can do about them!
That didn't detract from our visit tho', and we'd definitely stay there again if we go back to the Isle of Man.

The TownHose was an excellent self-catering hotel. The rooms well-aapointed and completely furnished. The view of the promenade was beautiful. The location was accessible to shopping and the transit system, which in itself was easy to access and afforable as well as being helpful to visitors.

This is a great place to stay, very handy both for the main seafront and for the shops.
Our apartment was really clean and well furnished. TV had a few movie/sports channels and there was a DVD player.
The welcome pack of groceries that we'd ordered was perfect. Staff were great too.
Would stay here again no problem.
2 small annoyances were 1) The number of codes you have to remember/write down to get into your room from outside and 2) The seagulls outside were really noisy from early morning until around 10 or 11 at night. Nothing the apartment owners can do but it was noisy, especially when it was warm and windows had to be open.

Well-located, high standard of facilities eg nice quality furnishings and linen, kitchenette, and courteous and friendly staff. It would have been nicer if the reception area had been staffed, eg at time we were checking out. And the code entry system seemed possibly to allow entry to the lobby to some non-residents. Would recommend other than these points.
