Stayed for four nights at the end of July/early August. Our room at the front of the hotel was a good size, and spotlessly clean, albeit a little dated, and parts of the carpet were threadbare. Very light and airy room with 2 large windows, one being a lovely bay window with views out to the North Sea. Sadly, the bed was quite uncomfortable, and I'd say the mattress is in desperate need of replacement with one of better quality, too. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and a bottle of water, too, which was a nice touch. A decent, hearty breakfast, self service buffet was supplied, with a good choice, though, as someone has said elsewhere the choice of eggs seems to have come from the Henry Ford school of selection - "You can have any type of egg that you want, as long as it's scrambled"! Friendly staff throughout. Only limited parking outside the front of the hotel. Even the hotel blurb in the room states this, and suggests parking on the side streets around the hotel if none is available on site. There is a lot of work going on replacing the promenade directly opposite the hotel; diggers, etc. starting their daily work at a little after 7.30 a.m. I don't know if this includes weekends as we were there weekdays.

I booked this hotel as my mother & aunt had fond memories of visiting Whitley bay with their aunt whose funeral it was. Rooms ok, tea and coffee facilities. Lady on reception really nice & helpful. Breakfast was great plenty of choice and waiter was nice. Young lady in bar through reception very nice. Overall a nice spot for a night or two.

We arrived and got parked no problem then when checking in we had been ungraded. Pleased with our rooms one shower bigger than the other both spotless. Only issue was not enough sockets to charge mobile and no seat at dressing table where the mirror is. Seagulls woke us as breakfast staff were feeding them! Breakfast was good not given the choice of eggs just scrambled. No lift unfortunately but would return.

We were upgraded to a large, double room with a sea view. The room was spacious and clean. The sea view was slightly disappointing as there is a lot of work going on but we enjoyed watching the JCB's, this is not the hotels fault just an observation.
While the room was big with 2 large windows, the bed was cheap with an even cheaper mattress, it was lumpy and uncomfortable.
We ate in the Italian restaurant next door, you go through a connecting door from the hotel, the food was amazing, I can thoroughly recommend it. The manager informed us that they had live music on later on and we were welcome to come back....we didn't need to, we sang along from our hotel room....actually the singer was quite good and we enjoyed it! The hotel also had live music on, it was a Thursday night, this was not so good, it was very loud and full of base, thankfully it didn't go on too late.
The lights for the hotel were right outside the room so it wasn't very dark but the curtains were ok, we managed a few hours sleep, about 2am there must have been a club turn out as there was plenty of 'revellers' laughing, shouting and having fun (nothing wrong in that) after they had passed we fell back asleep. About 5.30am we were woken by van doors slamming and sliding, how many doors does a van have, as, what I assume were workmen, were picked up or dropped off for work.
After, what was a fairly broken nights sleep we went off to breakfast, the room was bright, there was quite a good choice of cereal, danish and juice, we were offered a choice of tea or coffee and brown or white toast, and an offer of an english cooked breakfast which my husband had, it looked very nice and my husband said it was hot and nicely cooked. We ordered brown toast, it arrived and looked ok, my husband broke his in half and it was green with mould, on inspection of the other slice, I'd already eaten one, that too was green with mould on one side. When we called the man that was serving us, he looked horrified and just grabbed it and took it into the kitchen...after about 2 mins he came back and said "sorry about that".
We returned to our room, collected the case and made our way down to reception to have a word, there was no one there to have a word with, just a box on the counter to out your key in, the man from breakfast came along, he informed us that things had been put into place so there would be no repeat of 'this morning's problem'.
I phoned the hotel later in the day and explained what had happened, the receptionist knew nothing about this and she was quite shocked, I asked if I could have a refund for the breakfast, she agreed but explained that she didn't have the authority to do this....I'm still waiting.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms can be noisy.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean, slightly dated, shower was beginning to show signs of mould in the joints. Bit like wandering through a maze to get to the room on the 3rd floor, no lifts. Definitely not a place for anyone with mobility issues.Breakfast was reasonable, room was crowded on the first morning, but easier on other mornings. Fortunately found a parking place when we arrive but not able to get parking outside again. Wifi was basically non-existent. When did establish a connection lost it almost immediately. Couldn't connect anywhere in the building.

Room Tip: There are sea view rooms but they might be noisy as there is a busy road outside. No aircon.

The staff were friendly and helpful but room was dated and one double glazed window was blown potholes and extractor fan was dirty and edges of carpet Dusty and parking was terrible not ideal for elderly or disabled as the is no lift and many stairs. But on the upside breakfast was cracking and lots of choice as it is buffet style

Arrived to find we had a different room to that stated on the booking confirmation. Asked why? Was it that the sea view was obscured by the window with the damaged seal and someone had swapped earlier? Was told that it was to be raised with maintenance and not all rooms have a sea view. Do not book room 25. Apart from that it is clean and people are friendly.
