“Great place to stay in Northern Cyprus.”
Reviewed September 25, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We hired the apartment through the owner Martin who was really helpful answering all questions almost immediately.
We flew into Larnaca Airport and we had booked an airport transfer through 'surcarhire' (recommended by the owner). They were prompt and transported us in a air-conditioned Mercedes Vito which was nice. Transfer cost £50 for both of us, each way, £100 in total for return trip. They also picked us up at the resort right on time for return to Larnaca.
We were met at the apartment by Marina (wife of Martin) who gave us a run down on the apartment. She was very nice and explained all questions and gave us quite a lot of tips for making the most of the holiday.
The apartment was very clean and had everything that we needed.
The apartment was three rooms, a reasonably large kitchen/lounge area, a nice sized double (or twin) bedroom and a shower/toilet room. We slept two in the separate bedroom and I think this was just right for the apartment, it could sleep 4 (with another couple in the lounge/kitchen room on a sofa bed) but I think this would be pretty tight.
The apartment is on the 4th floor and access is easy via a lift or stairs, we found this elevated position great as the view from the balcony was great in the morning and evenings and it was nice to sit out and have breakfast and evening meals on the balcony. There was a welcome parasol (to provide shade during the day) and table and chairs on the balcony and also a small washing line and pegs. We had a couple of minor issues with the parasol, sometimes the breeze could get up and lift the parasol (even from a closed position). It had been blown over a couple of times when we returned to the apartment and we ended up lifting the parasol out of the base for safe keeping.
The lift in the block could be a bit slow but this wasn't really a problem.
We were cycling during our holiday so we didn't hire a car. This wasn't a huge problem as there was a small super market on site or a larger one about a 10 minute walk away which had a better selection and was a bit cheaper. Fresh fruit and veg were excellent from the larger market.
The resort complex itself is located a bit on its own (perhaps 800 metres from the main road and beach access) so you really do need some form of transport to make the most of the area.
The resort itself had a mix of people staying, couples, families etc. Most were very friendly. The pools were clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds and shade during the hot times of the day.
There is a single restaurant on site. We ate there in the evening two or three times and it was OK and the food and costs were reasonable but on the Sunday it ran out of quite a few menu items but this might have just been a one off.
Overall the apartment was very good, considering the price paid. If I was being fussy then the bathroom could probably do with a new shower curtain and accessories but it was clean and functional.
The air conditioning in the main apartment worked well and we used it only at night, during the day having the windows and balcony door open gave a nice breeze through the apartment and with fly/insect nets on all windows and doors this worked very well.
There was a wi-fi router in the apartment which the owner gave access to but you did need to buy internet access from the complex to use this point. The restaurant had a free access point that was fine for our use although it did limit access to web sites that were not using secure web protocol (https) which could be frustrating.
All in all a great holiday apartment that was good value.

“Would definitely recommend!!”

Having researched much of North Cyprus, including all areas, resorts, hotels and private rented apartments, this apartment was one of the cheapest. With the added amenities (gym, sauna, steam, swimming pools etc.) it was the cheapest!! (compared to others with similar amenities) - and trust me, I spent many a hour researching!

Added to the price range, I also researched public transport in North Cyprus - as neither myself or my partner would be driving, although I was very put off because it seemed that anyone and everyone recommended hiring a car.

The verdict?? Although this was the cheapest, there was no corners cut (as can be in such situations). This apartment was great, everything listed was inside and the photos matched the actual (as a frequent traveller, this isn't always the case). We were very pleased!!

We were mildly off-season, so it was nice and quiet at the resort and we enjoyed the pool, sauna, steam most days. It was too cold to use the outdoor pools, but the indoor pool and jacuzzi etc. was perfect.

As a gym person, I used the free on-site gym and it is better than it looked online. Alongside the machines there are professional boxing bags, both hung and floor and the machines both cardio and floor machines were varied and a good range. There was also a weights section, with a good selection of weights. There were add on's as well, like a skipping rope, medicine ball, mats and pads and gloves. I liked the fact that the gym was open all the time as well, especially late into the evening (around 9 / 10pm).

As for public transport, there is a bus service that visits the resort many times a day and takes you to Famagusta, there is also a timetable for bringing you back. The only down side was the local bus didn't run at weekends - and the management (not the owner) didn't put up a sign to explain this (so we were waiting!)

While at the resort, we did think of hiring a car to go to Girne, Kyrenia - but the minimum is 3 days hire (pretty much standard for N.Cyprus it seems), and we only wanted a day. In the end we went via the local buses and it was fine, we were glad we didn't bother with hiring a car. Getting the local bus to Famagusta - we picked up the service to Kyrenia and it was simple and straightforward (and cheap, around approx £12 return trip) We also used the Friday free bus from the resort to the local market (Iskele) and that was fine.

Iskele is the local town and speaking to Martin the owner, he mentioned how he'd never managed to walk to the town (around a 35 minute walk) because people always pulled over to give him a lift and sure, enough, this happened to us too!!!, - and on more than one occasion. Walking along the road, the people are so friendly, they just pull over and offer a lift.

We went to the beach and it was very quiet most of the time (I think because it was off season). This was great for us - and the beach was good, sandy and very clean, - in the Summer I reckon it would be great to swim in. The beach is not far from the apartment and it's a nice quiet walk on a path surrounded by beautiful, tranquil green fields.

Famagusta is your average town, with restaurants, coffee shops, bars, big supermarkets etc. We ate out there a few times and it wasn't too expensive. Famagusta has a lot of students - as there are universities based around, so it's a very young(ish) population.

Overall I would recommend this apartment and resort. The owner and his wife are very nice and Martin was super friendly and responsive to all my questions. Prior to arriving, emailing Martin and asking him lots of questions, he always replied very quickly and was very helpful and approachable.

North Cyprus is quite rural in ways, more rural than I originally realised, but it was perfect for what we wanted. We had all the amenities on-site (we also used the restaurant and it has a large selection and its not expensive), we could pop into town when we wanted and with the beach within walking distance, it all added up to what was a good holiday overall (we went for 10 days).
