I visited this Hotel just for a drink with some walking friends and we stayed most of the night as their was good Scottish music on and we were able to dance.
The evening was very warm and it was extremely hot and stuffy in the room.
I asked the duty barman if the hotel had any fans and he replied "It's not that hot in here and no we dont have any fans."
I propped open the two entrance doors and opened a side door to let some air in but the barman closed them all immediately.
Lo and behold the same barman appeared with a fan and plugged it in but he gets no votes from any of us for being a helpful sort.

Myself and my wife went to the Star for their 6 course banquet weekend, 2 nights B & B and the banquet for under £140, the hotel if tired and needs a redecoration but the staff, food and entertainment is top class. It is one of those 'everyone should do' events but a lot of people wouldn't want to do it again.
The entertainment is fun and gets the crowd involved and between the musicians and the staff everybody knows everybody else before the night is through.
A truly highland welcome and I will be back but it may take my body a few years to recover from the cheap drink and dancing.

we travel from stirling and stoped over at the star and heading the next morning for fochabers for my mothers 82 birthday gettogether.we stayed in room 12a the room to the front over looking the set of traffic lights, red amber green all night, and the room was over the bar a entertanment went on to the we hours,I and my wife had been working to late on the friday and thought we would take a break in the journey, before traveling on and that was the day there was a accident on the way to kingussie, this hotel remains in the dark ages its like stepping back in time,

Room Tip: do not accept room 12a as it over looks the traffic lights

We stayed at this hotel as part of a deal advertised in a sunday magazine. I am kind of at a loss at what to say about this hotel. We got a bargain price and enjoyed the weekend, however i'm not so sure i would go back, everything was OK but thats as much as i can say. Most people where on the bargain weekend price and were there for a boozy weekend and if thats your thing then i would say go for it. However as we where hit with a massive snowstorm it was minus 18 at one point we where not able to venture into aviemore or anywhere else due to the cold and this kind of put a damper on things.
