Attended with Cheltenham and Cotswold Hash House Harriers for our annual birthday weekend. Fantastic time was had by all, staff were great and couldn't do more for us. Rooms were clean and spacious, food was excellent.

Stayed in a refurbished room (331) as part of a large group who travelled for the weekend. The room was very small, a tiny en-suite that had a bit of a dodgy shower (poor water pressure), but was very clean and relatively newly done. Apparently others had excellent water quality, large showers and baths also. No wifi in rooms and of mixed quality in the main areas, but enough to get by. The staff on the whole were helpful, but in the dining room they seemed very rushed. When choices ran out they were substituted which was disappointing but overall the quality of the food was good. Enjoyed breakfast and the ability to ask for fresh fruit. An excellent choice for a big group and our organiser spoke very highly of the management and how helpful they were. Would be happy to return, especially as they are doing more refurbishments. Excellent location with car park across the road at a third of the price the hotel were charging

Room tip: Sea view is better. Ask for a refurbished room

A very enjoyable few days away with my sisters. Very friendly hotel and nothing to much trouble. The food was good and the entertainment was good especially on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The staff was helpful and when we had a problem with the shower it was sorted out straight away. Thankyou for a nice time.

Room tip: Near lift.

If this property is now typical of those used by Shearings for their midweek breaks, then I will not be using their services any more.

When a hotel treats its guests as an inconvenience, puts you in a room that has not been pre checked for faults, has shower units that water struggles to service, has a heating system which is continually breaking down, calls it's poorly run "works canteen" , a restaurant, then you know it is not and never will be an hotel. And that's the least of its difficulties, which libel laws prevent me from addressing in this forum.

Perhaps they are trying to compete with Verity as one of Ilfracombe's worst attractions.

Came a few years ago and this time what a change, will not leave it as long next time.We loved the place our rooms were great loved the breakfast buffet and couldn't fault the food in general.Have to say though the steak night we paid extra for was a big disappointment and not worth the extra money.Quality of food was missing and if you are going to offer it has a special occasion then we dont expect top be with everyone else.I know we altered our dining time but wasn't told we would be in with everyone else.Idea good but not pulled off.
