Wonderful facility in old Inverness! Well appointed in late 19th and early 20th century luxury furnishings. Definitely worth the visit. Beds a bit small by American standards but well within the European stds. On the premises owner-mngr. readily available to answer questions and provide recommendations. Would definitely consider for a return stay.

Room Tip: this is a residential property and not a hotel

My husband and I visited the Ivy Bank for a week at the beginning of September. We stayed in room 2, which is on the first floor. The room is small but clean and nicely decorated. There were tea making facilities with a kettle, a small shower room with a toilet and a sink in the bedroom. There was also a TV (albeit slightly on the small side- still watchable though!) and wifi.

The bed was comfortable, though the shower had a mind of its own, going from freezing cold to boiling hot without touching the temperature gauge. The Ivy Bank is about a five minute walk from the sea front which is nice and handy!

Breakfast was served between 8:30- and 9:30 by a very cheerful and pleasant lady and the breakfast was tasty with good portions. I didn't have a full English every day but the plate would be made up with a larger portion of only some of the full English selection.

There are only a few small things that I think could improve customers' stay.

I don't know about the other rooms but our room (2) had nowhere to hand towels up to dry apart from a small towel rail in the shower room. As the fan only worked when the light was on and there was no ventilation as the door self closed, the towels did not dry and so we had to leave them to be washed regularly (a previous reviewer put that their towels weren't washed when left hung up in the shower room- but it is now I believe common practice in hotels and B&Bs to leave towels in the bath/ shower when you need them to be washed). Whilst this isn't a major problem, the towels weren't dirty they just smelt fusty after a day or so, and it seemed a shame to make more unnecessary washing. Maybe if there was some kind of rail or storage within the room this could help.

Secondly, I do feel that although the lady serving breakfast was very nice and friendly, it would have been nice to have seen more of the lady who ran the Ivy Bank (I didn't learn her name throughout our stay). The owner greeted us on the first day and checked us out, but I have never stayed in a guest house where the owners weren't serving breakfast and around in the morning to offer tips on where to visit, where to eat etc. This for me is what can really make staying at a guest house so much nicer and more personal than staying in a hotel chain. The lady seemed very nice when we did see her, but our favourite guest houses have been where the owners have been really friendly and helpful and chatty.

Overall, however, a really pleasant stay in a beautiful part of Wales.

We stayed here for a weekend just at the start of the summer holidays. Firstly parking isn't as available as freely as I would have expected but did manage to get a spot next to the guest house. The rooms were smaller then expected but nicely decorated with nice added touched like body mist in the bathroom. The land lady is friendly and let's you get on with your stay. The guest house isn't far from the town and only a short walk. The price was good and I would stay here again. My only complaint was the breakfast, really wasn't a fan but that's not a big issue.

Beautiful rooms, very nice host, makes a very tasty breakfast, quiet street. Nice interior design, clean bathroom and bedrooms. Free wifi, tea making facilities. It was no problem to get a twin room after booking a double one
