“delightful stay”

What a superbly preserved grand Georgian country residence. Having breakfast in a huge dining room with the owners' ancestors looking down upon us was a memorable experience. Pippa was the epitome of charming country hospitality. She made us extremely welcome and could not do enough for us. Thank you, Pippa. Highly recommended

We stayed for 2 nights at Quarter with Pippa. Woke up to fantastic breakfasts every morning and felt very at home. The room was beautiful, very comfy bed and plenty of hot water.

Will definitely being stopping at Quarter next summer on our way up North.

Robin and Pippa, not forgetting the four legged friends, make you feel incredibly welcome and at home. They are very happy to chat when you want to chat and equally will leave you to your own devices when you want some peace and quiet. The beds are supremely comfortable - we've stayed there more than once and have had different rooms so can vouch for this! All home comforts without the cost! The blissful no TV in a room is such a godsend these days - if that's what you want, go to a Motel! Pippa is ever accommodating and looks after your every need. Quarter is perfectly located for exploring the Highlands, the West Coast or equally the capital city and Glasgow - a little piece of country house living within easy access of the metropalis. Highly recommended.

Quarter House is located between Denny and Stirling but not difficult to find, although the entrance is easy to miss since it does not have a sign to mark the property. Glad to get the instructions from Pippa (and for my GPS). For city folks like me, the view of the 60 acres around the house is quite a sight and part of the draw of Quarter.

The house, over 200 years old, is clean and well-maintained, with bright charming rooms. My room with two single beds and ensuite shower was spacious and adequately furnished. However, it could use some insulation and maybe space heaters. Had to wear two layers of fleece to stay warm. Tea implements were supplied but no toiletries. WiFi is available on the first floor.

Pippa cooks your breakfast to order. The eggs are fresh from her own hens. There are also cold cereals, porridge, fruit and juices.

And if you need a little action, just call up Inky and Blue, Quarter’s other two residents who'd love to romp around for a wee fee of breakfast bits or whatever edibles you have on you.

One note of caution, as pointed out by a previous reviewer, it’s cash only so make sure you bring enough to cover your stay.

Overall a very pleasant and refreshing 2-day stay.

Staying at Stirling isn't really like staying at a B&B; it's more like staying at the house of a distant relative you've never met and whom you seem to have come in on while they're going about their business.

The house itself is undeniably beautiful, and you do feel like you should be touring it rather than staying in it. However the comfort level isn't what you expect in a B&B: the huge windows haven't been updated to keep out the cold, the twin beds were saggy and uncomfortable (even for kids), and 2 of the 3 bathrooms have narrow bathtubs instead of showers.

The usual things you find in a top B&B just aren't there - such as fresh toiletries (ours were refilled bottles from hotels and previously used soap), a guest refrigerator near the rooms, TVs in the rooms, wireless internet (though in fairness this might have been a temporary technical difficulty), and choices about breakfast.

We were told we could use the lounge, but as the family seemed to be using it, that felt awkward. When we went to pay in the morning, we were told that they don't take credit cards (couldn't find this on the web site) and had to dash to a cash machine before heading to the airport. Thankfully we'd left enough time for our departure that we were able to do it, but this was the only B&B we've ever stayed at in the UK or Ireland (a total of 14) that didn't take credit cards!

Overall, if you know what to expect, Stirling is a fine place to stay, and Pippa & Robin are very nice people, but these little economies and inconveniences detracted from the experience we had hoped for.

Pippa and Robin would have to be the most helpful, understanding and friendliest people I have met in a long time. On our first night at Quarter my husband became seriously ill and needed to go to hospital, in no time at all Pippa and Robin organised an ambulance and reassured me that he was in good hands. I was also in excellent hands, The next day Pippa looked after me like I was a member of the family, she took me to the hospital to see my husband, she also made sure I had meals outside what we had paid for. Both Robin and Pippa made what was a traumatic time for us much easier. As for the house itself I can't praise it high enough, the rooms are very comfortable, the beds amazing.

Room Tip: The Blue room was excellent with a large king size bed and a neat and cosy ensuite with a deep bath

My family and I stayed at the Argyll B&B in Stirling, Scotland and it was good value for money. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and the owner, Mrs. Shaw made us feel very welcome. The Breakfast was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the area and advised us on all the tourist sites to visit. I would definitely recommend this B&B to any family or couple.
