Owner description: Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

Good views from the castle and the guides are quite good with the history of the castle. However not much to see apart from the huge rooms and the views. But a slice of history so hence worth seeing. But as I mentioned earlier quite pricey. Kids might not find anything in it. Excellent café with a selection of good hot food.

The tour is a good idea—short and informative. We enjoyed the archer display. The cafe a great and the prices aren’t bad.

“It’s nice but not as nice as the castle in Edinburgh”. A cold but accurate review. To be clear it’s absolutely worth the trip. Classic Scottish castle with tons of history, good exhibits and good stories, just not quite as much as in Edinburgh. James V’s decorations of the palace are the heart of the displays. Not a far drive - worth the trip.

We were visiting friends in Stirling who thought Stirling Castle would be a good day trip for us all on Easter Sunday.

We were not disappointed, the castle itself is stunning and kept 4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 3 to 10 engaged all day. There were archery displays and lots of actors to keep everyone entertained and the land train that Stirling town put on was a godsend.

We parked at the bottom of the hill, in town, and hopped on board for the long trip up to the castle.

We had a great day and really enjoyed the history. The views are to die for and, as a family, we've fallen in love with Scotland.

Due to limited parking get the early. The castle is mostly restored and extremely interesting to both adults and kids alike. Incredible views surround it and the actors (and guides) really bring it to life. Make sure you have plenty of time to spend at it is easy to get lost.
