A Scottish friend recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. I had their soup of the day (some kind of carrot and spice) and my husband had a seafood platter. We went about 5:30 on a Tuesday and the place was nearly empty. Food was delicious and service was great. The waiter did accidentally spill some of the butter sauce from the seafood on my husband's pants, but he felt much worse about it than we did!

Been here a couple of times and the food has always been super.
They use local, Scottish ingredients and have a wide range of Scottish beers.
The staff is very friendly and willing to give a doggy bag if you have any food left.

It probably is recommended to book, since it's a small restaurant and fills up quickly.

After all the good reviews we expected a treat. Coleslaw, sweet potato fries and hand cut chips were yummy. That's where it stopped. The steak burger was way to dry and the mac'n cheese was completely lacking in cheese sauce, hence also dry. The smoke from the kitchen was so thick the air was blue and it was stinging the eyes. No reason to go back.

On our way back from the Outer Hebrides and Skye we made a stop in Stirling and walking up the city center we chose to have a meal at Brae Restaurant. Thank god we did and contrary to some feedbacks our experience was just outstanding: such nice and welcoming hosts, a lovely atmosphere and food just "out of this world". Such a nice change to the standard menus you get in restaurants, pubs etc. When we travel to Stirling next time, this is definitely the place for us to eat.
