We had a lovely stay over the bank holiday weekend at Drapers Cottage.
The cottage itself is a good size for a short stay for 4 people and a dog, the decor is lovely and everything works. Great shower too!
Helen met us at the cottage to show us round and provided us with tea, coffee and a cake. A nice touch! The kitchen is well stocked which is very handy.
The location of the cottage is perfect, close to the castle which provides a good dog walk, across the road from the train station (which we did not find intrusive at all) and a few minutes walk to the shops and pubs in Pickering centre.
We liked the position of Pickering in terms of visiting Whitby, Scarborough and Robins Hoods Bay plus Malton.
We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to visit it again in the future.

“Pretty cottage ideal for visiting Steam railway”
Reviewed 20 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We had a lovely weekend in this pretty cottage. Weather wasnt brilliant but Helen had even laid a fire for us. Fresh flowers in rooms and a lemon drizzle cake which my son especially loved.
The rooms are very nicely furnished and bed was comfy.
We visited Whitby on the train and Helmsley for Riveaux abbey and bird of prey centre.
Pickering is a nice town with lots of good pubs and eateries and a good market on Mondays

“Gorgeous cottage in lovely location”
Reviewed 9 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The cottage is beautiful with everything you could need for a short stay. Helen, the owner, is friendly and welcoming. Its is in the picturesque Pickering which is very quaint. We stayed here as it was well priced and close to Flamingo Land, where we planned to visit. We would definitely stay again. Only thing I would say is there is parking for a small car but it is tricky and you need to be a reasonably skillful driver to maneuver off the front on to the road.

Lovely homely cottage in a perfect location for touring. Loved the open fire and the coffee, milk, cake and flowers were a welcome touch. Would definitely recommend and we will book again in the future.

What a little gem, full of most welcome little extras such as fresh ground coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge, enough wood/coal for 3 evenings and bath-soak for those aching post-walk muscles. The icing on the cake this week was being able to see the Flying Scotsman from the front windows.

“Perfect - would come back / recommend”
Reviewed 1 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

2 night stay to visit Whitby at Halloween with our 12 year old and dog. Perfect location in Pickering - short walk from village, Castle and woods, and overlooking train station ( no issue with noise as so in frequent). Cottage had everything we needed, spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Using the open fire and wood burner was great. Helen was very helpful, when she knew we had arrived early she arranged for the cottage to be available earlier. We loved the quirky decor, a real cosy feel. Some lovely touches like the lemon drizzle cake and milk in the fridge(much appreciated). Thank you - we look forward to coming back.
