My fiancée and I have spent the weekend here with our son, and it has been very pleasant indeed. The lodge we stayed in was very charming and surprisingly roomy. The wooden construction really made it something that little bit out of the ordinary. It isn't like a chalet or caravan in that the facilities feel like you're in a proper structure, not something temporary or flimsy. The park itself is some beautiful countryside and the surrounding landscapes are equally bucolic. The clubhouse boasts a pub that does pretty good food. I had one of the burger meals the first night and the duck tonight, both of which were plentiful and tasty. The indoor pool is big enough to have a proper swim, and the park offers a good range of activities. This is a definite option if you're planning a short break in north Cornwall.

Our family visited Hengar manor recently during mid-May and stayed in a three bedroom cabin near the lake. Overall it was very bare-bones accommodation and overpriced given its state: the cabin did not look as though it had been cleaned, there wasn't enough dining plates (etc) for six people, there weren't six dining chairs, the beds were uncomfortable and one them had a spring that had completely torn through the bottom, constantly scratching whomever was in the bed, the shower was poorly designed, only shooting water at the wall and not down onto the person in the shower, there were not enough oven trays provided, the furniture was very dated and dirty, there was dust everywhere and many cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Wi-Fi was extortionate, the headboards were not even attached to the beds, some of the bedside furniture was broken, the onsite pub was overpriced and the meal sizes were not reasonable. On a scale of 1-10 we would rate the accommodation a 3 and not return unless significant changes were made. The property has great potential and the grounds are beautiful, granting lovely views, but our stay was marred by the cabin and in the end we checked out early.

We were staying in lodge 11 with hot tub. We were staying with 5 adults and 3 little ones. Also had other family staying in country view apartment, lodge 8 and lodge 20. Having read some other reviews was a bit worried. Arrived on 6th may and left 13th and was made to feel very welcome. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lodge was very spacious and clean. A little tired in places. Lots of extras dishwasher, iron, ironing board, nice big corner bath (perfect for kids) plenty of storage. Shower was hot and clean. Beds were comfy. Upstairs rooms are huge. Parking straight outside lodge for one vehicle.
Our hot tub stopped working on day 3 but was fixed the following day.
Shop was great for extras like fresh bread but would do a shop at tesco wadebridge if you need more than a few bits.
Hengar manor is in the middle of nowhere but is great as a base. Great beaches are 25 mins away. Bodmin roads are a nightmare with roadworks, not hengar manor fault! On site entertainment was cheesy but making the most of there only being a few people on site this time of year. Not everything on site is open as not main season, but didn't expect it to be.
Swimming pool was great and used almost daily. Family travelled from northern Ireland and Wales and had a great time!
A must is a stop at the guy just outside hengar manor doing wood carving! And a breakfast at cedar cafe (nursery).
Looking forward to a return visit!

Where do I start the lodge we had was for 10 it was dirty the sofa was broken, the sinks and shower was dirty,
We went to the restaurant on the first night it was grubby and the seats were torn the staff were trying to make the best of a dying holiday camp.
I write this to worn people with families the Thursday night we went to the family entertainment and a fight broke out smashing chairs we left Friday.
This was a 50th wedding anniversary ruined.

Room Tip: Don't go there

My wife and I had visited Hengar Manor previously for a weekend and stayed in the Maid's retreat. Having enjoyed our stay so much we booked to come back with the children and dog.

We arrived at Hengar an hour before we were due to check in. The reception staff kindly checked us in, even tracking down the cleaner to retrieve the key.

We stayed the week in the Meadowside caravan and were a bit apprehensive having read the reviews on pet-friendly caravans. I can however say my previous fears were put to bed. All I could really find fault with was that the carpet was a little worn, but I've experienced a lot worse in pet-friendly accommodations. There was an iron, ironing board, tv/DVD player, cookware, bed linen, microwave and fridge freezer all available to use. On further inspection our television was not working although this was rectified within half hour, with the friendly maintenance staff replacing it.

The facilities on site are great for kids too, with the indoor swimming pool, park and numerous activities to keep them entertained. The shop is quite basic but there is a supermarket within a 15 minute drive. The bar/restaurant is clean and comfortable with food and drinks reasonably priced. There is evening entertainment for children, and then cash bingo and cabaret for adults soon after. The kids enjoyed it as well as the adults!

We look forward to visiting again!
