the pictures on the website are great, but the reality is much better. We stayed in Lady Macbeth's Rest in June 2016. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and there is everything you can wish for to make your stay easy and comfortable. Pipa and Alex have thought of the smallest details to make their guests happy. We had very bad weather, but there are many things to do and to see around Lumphanan. And who cares about the weather, when you can curl up on the sofa, read a book, make a puzzle or watch a video (all in the house!!). To summon it up: WOW

Room Tip: My tip is: go there

Thank you both very much for your kind review. We enjoyed meeting you both and love having guests from abroad. I wish the weather had been better for your visit but that is something we cannot control! With very best wishes Pippa and Alex.

We stayed at Macbeths Retreat in 2015 and Lady Macbeths in June 2016. Both cottages were an absolute delight to spend time in. They were warm light and beautifully appointed, even had a welcome pack of shortbread and local jam. Beautiful views, peaceful. The owners are nearby and very helpful.. Looking forward to another visit.

Room Tip: Not a hotel but a fabulous 2 bed cottage

You may possibly be our furthest travelled visitors! It was lovey to see you both again and thank you for taking the time to write a review. So pleased that you enjoyed the biscuits and jam. Locally made food does taste better! Best wishes Pippa.

We stayed at Lady Macbeth's Rest for a week in June 2016. I cannot recommend the accommodation enough - everything was very modern and clean, with so much space compared to others we have stayed in. We were especially pleased that our two dogs were able to stay with us and that there was a fenced off garden for them to sit outside safely. Everything had been clearly thought about and we had no complaints. We will definitely be back in the future!

The cottage is close to sheer luxury. The living room is large and looks out onto the countryside - watch out for a grey wagtail (yellow breast), a male pheasant and buzzards. The kitchen / diner is very large and well appointed. Both bedrooms are large with plenty of storage space, and the beds are comfortable. All-in-all an excellent house to holiday in.
Our week in May had terrific weather - we went walking with our dog every day. We know Deeside very well having had a static caravan for 10 years in Feuchside.
The location of the cottage is very central for many types of activities; walking from low level to high level, visiting castles and gardens, fishing and golf. There is something in the area for everyone. Go there and enjoy - we have already booked for next year.

Room Tip: Book early for your chosen stay

We stayed in the King Duncan View and what a fantastic place to stay! The cottage was stunning from top to bottom with everything you could ever need. Pippa and Alex were very friendly and my family and I would like to say a massive thank you, especially to Alex who gave us a tour of the farm! This really is a hidden gem of a place to stay with stunning views set in a very quiet part of the country; but don't be fooled, there is so much to see and do for all the family! We will definately be returning and telling all our friends about it!
